i bough a set of projector retrofits from ivan (2088 MSP). I had seen his work before on some other cars and they all looked great. I contacted him and told him what i wanted done and that i had liked his other work. I told him the main reason i wanted to pay to have these done is i was afraid i wouldn't be able to reseal them properly and i would have condensation problems. He told me no problem he makes sure everything is sealed tight. So off we go on this journey headlights look great in pictures the paint is looking good and then i get them.

On first look i was impressed they looked great. The black was really dark and it all looked fantastic. Then i looked closer and there was dust EVERYWHERE on the inside on the headlight. On the shroud on the projector it self and everywhere else inside the headlight. This was something i was mildly annoyed at but not enough to send them back. So off i go to install them fitment on the passenger side is perfect just like factory, but the fitment on the drivers side took a little work to get perfect(not his fault). Then i go to install the hid kit he sent me the harness was super short, so short in fact the only solution was to use double sided tape for the passenger side ballast and stick it directly to the bottom of the headlight.

now that the install was done i wen't to turn on the lights right away i notice the driver's side has a blue tint (i speifically told him i wanted 5k bulbs so they would be white). So i send him a message that he sent me one wrong bulb. He verified this and sent me another bulb. This is the last time ivan responded to me. i've sent him multiple text messages since then and he will not respond. So I receive said bulb and install it. It's still not completely white but again me being the nice guy i am i can live with it. Those were the last of my problems or so i thought.........

Fast forward to tonight first time i've driven the car at night. I go to leave work and as soon as i turn the headlights on i notice that the drivers side cutoff isn't even flat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was the last straw. I sent ivan a message again but like the past 4 messages i've sent to him he hasn't responded. Please do not make the same mistake i made go to someone who knows what they are doing.

cliff notes:
ordered retros
said retros are dusty, have mis matched bulbs, and have a crooked projector cutoff.
I'm pissed to say the least

here you see my ****** up cutoff and the color difference

The dust on the inside in inexcusable for sure, and the different colors are apparent...Silly question, but have you tried the headlight alignment screws? Are they even there anymore due to retrofit? Naturally the driver's side headlight beam is lower so it's not in the eyes of oncoming traffic..

Not defending the guy or anything but just sayin'

The alinement of your headlights are common from what I have seen over time with my friends retro's and even mine. Dust on the otherhand, mine I have are used but still clean when I bought them.

also it should be noted that i'm not the first person that has had this problem. I talked to vip and he told me when he approached ivan about his condensation issues he stopped responding to him as well

The headlight screws adjust the vertical up and down of the projector so you can set the height. I've already done that. I know the drivers side beam will be lower but the projector shouldn't be crooked the top and bottom cutoff should be perfectly flat like the passenger side.

these retro's are brand new less then 50 miles on them. The cut off lines should be flat.

Yeah the projector is not level in the housing - it needs to be rotated clockwise (assuming he used the Morimoto Mini H1 with the big tightening nut on the back). He didn't test them with light on. I had the same thing happen when I first did my retro.

Can't you just ever be pleased with a purchase, Ryan!?

"Oh, those tension bars are wrong!"
"Oh, the dipstick is bent!"
"Oh, the timing cover is broken!"
LOL

A week from Sunday, I'm going back out there, so I'll pick up replacements! Why you no text me no mo'?

cause i got tired of texting you and getting no response. Then your excuse being i'm too popular i get messages from everyone

5K is not pure white, if you wanted pure white, you should have asked for 4300K. The dust is really the only problem I see here.
My cutoff is a bit crooked on the drivers side too, Its pretty common (with the morimoto mini) and a very easy fix, I've just been too lazy.

Take the rubber grommet off the back of the projector, and blow it out with an air gun. Bam, done. If you wanted it perfect, probably should have done it yourself, its stupid easy.

Then what the hell was the point in paying someone to do a service? Send me your short block and I will rebuild it... When I over torque your rotating assembly and your engine develops rod knock after 100 miles "you should have done it yourself" and just forfeit the money you paid me to do it...

Ryan, Sorry to hear Kid. You could always s*** in home boys Split second. lol

ok lets see w/ 55w ballast they are pure white look at my passenger side. Also just blowing it out with a air gun will not get the dust out it will just blow it around in the head light. Maybe you think the crooked projector is ok for your diy jobs but when i pay for something i don't like it to be half assed.

thanks mat and I can't believe I didn't notice the crooked projector when we were aiming them against the shop door

I agree that if you pay someone to do a job you expect it to be done right. If its that easy they shouldnt have messed it up in the first place.

I think the real issue here however is the lack of communication from the seller. I've had issues with vendors where they screwed things up.. everyone does at some point. The big difference is that most of them fixed it. What if someone buys projectors from that guy and they turns out much worst than these and then he stops responding?

that's my big issue I normally never speak bad about anyone. I especially don't like to speak bad about people that are just a 1 man operation because I know its tough. Just handling the stuff for signature is a lot, but for him to just ignore me is bad. Then to find out that I'm not the only one that's been ignored when they had problems with his work was just unacceptable.

I feel u bro, I bought a set he made a like 2 3 months ago and they were completely off. And not to mention the clip on the passenger side headlight was broken. I'm having a new set made by RetroFix . Pissed me off that he stated that the headlights were "slightly" used but yet u can see that the clear coat was 1 peeling and 2 had been rebuffed to try and hide the clear coat peeling.
