What have you done to your MSP today?

well, after the 3 month hiatus without driving the car after installing the 505 manifold. Finally got that worked out and figured after dealing with all of that, anything else would be a cake walk. I went to install the pope down pipe and planned to have it done and drive the car before the end of the night. Of course, nothing ever goes as planned with the MSP. Down pipe didn't fit right, so I ended up widening a couple of holes. Then, the nuts wouldn't clear the casting on the top studs so I removed the studs. Pulled out the hardware kit that I ordered with it and remembered the kit came with two hex bolts for the turbo. Well, The excitement didn't last long with that because the hex bolts are too long!!! So, after spending the 25 bucks for that hardware kit, Im still going to have to go out and spend more money for the right hardware to use. Hope the rest of the hardware works as intended. So, like usual, lost my motivation to work on the car, stuff is scattered all over my garage right now and will probably stay that way. Manifold, turbo and down pipe are still off the car until this gets figured out.

just Ordered:
Mpi Tuner w/ Extra injectors
Dg Grill
AEM Failsafe gauge
Joe P FCD
FM o2 Modifier
GM 3bar Map Sensor
work rs black lug nuts
greddy profec type b boost controller

and a new dslr so I can stop taking cell phone pics lol. Hopefully nothings wrong with this one so I won't have to return it like the last one.

I don't known if you can buy them new from nick anymore, but I got a super minty fresh never used mpi w/ extra injectors from Noah @ aac

Installed the PS cooler last night. Hopefully I don't blow and more PS pumps up. Just need to bet some longer hose and take her in again to get the coffee colored fluid out of the system and some nice ruby red fluid back in.

You need a fuel-cut defender even though you're running the MPI tuner?

btw for those of you who don't know what the aem failsafe gauge is its awesome. it's a boost/wideband all in one gauge w/ it's own software that has datalogging for boost, wideband, and afr. here is a quote on the failsafe portion. Oh the best part is its only 300 bucks.

After the engine is tuned and a safe operating window of AFR is established, the Wideband FAILSAFE Gauge continually monitors AFR and boost or vacuum to make sure that AFR does not fall out of the defined operating window at a given boost or vacuum level. If the Wideband Failsafe detects an out of range AFR reading, the gauge triggers a low side output (ground signal with a 1.5 amp draw max) that can save your engine from catastrophic damage.

you have much to learn lol. the way that im running the mpi yes i will need a fcd. The way i run mpi's is the same way alot of other people do and that is to only use them as a timing and extra injector controller. that way all my out of boost stuff is handled by the stock ecu and is smooth. Then when i get into boost the 02 clamp will activate at -1 vac giving me smooth tip in afr's. Also the fcd will clamp the the maf signal and depending on how much boost im running my extra injectors will start spraying. It requires a little bit of additional setup but the end result is awesome. This ems is what all the big guys used to use back in the day...apocman,yashooa,505,blkzmzm,dino...etc

So, I ended up picking up an 02 626 motor, complete with everything... I'm trying to decide whether or not to use that manifold or my manifold... That and if I can use the coil pack and ignition wires along with that valve cover.

Yeah, that seems like a lot of additional work for something another system could do on its own- ie stand alone. I'm thinking about Megasquirt. I can get a preassembled unit for about $650 (plus shipping maybe).

Even thought my GT25 has 180k on it has minimal shaft play, it's been in the back of my head for a year now, just waiting, hanging around, that it's going to fail soon. I'm really dreading that time and think that I should just plan on purchasing a GT28 before that time comes... Either that or keep my eye out for a used GT25 in the marketplace.

yea you can get a standalone but then you have to tune your idle and you out of boost afr's and all of your timing. It's a little more hassle then i want. The mpi i'll be able to tune my self and it will be fairly simple. If something doesn't work right with the mpi i'll have a pretty good idea what it is, but my car will never be undriveable because the stock ecu still controls my out of boost stuff.

ok, so I have the right size bolts. Why would they feel like Im about to strip the threads trying to tighten them? Everything I do to this car always ends up taking longer than usual and it is always the simplest crap. This is the only thing holding me up, I could have had this swap done and driving it yesterday.
