The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

How was the skyactive?

I drove one of the automatics with the sport shift and I wish it had a manual trans. Once you got the car moving it had decent pickup, but it didn't want to get out of it's own way from a stop. For 40mpg though, it was alright.

I was just thinking that you should try a Ford Focus too. ;)

I might have to stop by and check one out. One of my mechanics mentioned the new fiesta as well.

My buddy with the twin turbo 6 ran into a problem last night. He found the limit of boost the PLASTIC intake manifold can handle.

I believe he was at 24+psi when it happened. Knowing him, he was over 26psi though. Kinda funny how long it lasted in the first place.

I'm jelly, Will. I would LOVE to see F1 in person but can't justify the cost of tickets because I'm cheap.

I thought the tickets were going to be a lot worse than they turned out to be. We have T12 grandstand tickets which were about $200 for the whole weekend. I think general admission was right around $100.

me too

if I hit the lottery I'm going to Monaco

That's on my list of places to go and see even if it isn't a race weekend. There aren't many F1 races I don't want to go to eventually. Spa, Monza, Silverstone, Hockenheim/Nurburgring, and Monaco are at the top of the list I think.

Not to change the subject, but check out what I saw in Delaware today!

That's awesome!

It is an RS. According to a guy at JEGS, it's one of 6 that Ford Racing has rolling around in the US. One of the guys was driving it and stopped at JEGS here in Delaware for a meeting. I should have put a business card under the wiper. Maybe he could've stopped by the office. (lol2)

When you said Delaware I thought you were talking about the state until you mentioned JEGS :) I wonder where that car would stack up against the Evo/STi being only FWD.

They look much better in person. I've seen 2 of them. That is probably one of them. The other was in Detroit. Love that color too.

I think I want one just because you can't get them here. So you're guaranteed to have a pretty unique car... at least in this country.

I bet it is, it looks exactly the same as the one in my photobucket album

I can sell you my MSP, not as rare but still pretty rare and people seem to be doing full part outs and wrecking them alot

Let's talk tires.

I want new tires (225-40 or 45/17) for my DD wheels on the P5 (summer only car, no all seasons). I loved my last set of Yokohama Parada Spec2's but they've been discontinued though I'm sure I can still scrounge up a set. It seems everyone is running the Conti DW this year, do you like them?

What tire would you recommend? Thanks! :)

you'd want the DW (Dry/Wet) not the DWS (Dry/Wet/Snow)

I've had Dunlop star specs (the cheaper ones) on the past couple summers and like those, I'm going to swtich the the DWS i think when I get tires sometime this fall for year round

ya, dws are all season...i love my dw's...little softer than the spec II's and a whole lot quieter too! i love them!

random question, If I bought a set of wheels with a 56.1 hub bore and put on a 5mm spacer, would I need to bore the wheel out still or will the spacer move it far enough away from the hub?

Evan what are you looking to do with the tire?? (besides do 40mph going to work and such)

How long do you want them to last? Running any negative camber?

Drive often in the rain?

I'll never own a set of all-seasons again. Just get 2 sets of wheels and run winter tires and summer tires. It's amazing how much better winter tires perform than all-seasons. Plus, in the summer I would burn through a set of all-seasons pretty fast. I like to drive spirited on occasion.

But......not everyone can afford 2 sets of wheels (and summer/winter tires).

I would love to have 2 sets again and maybe with next year's tax return I can. While I understand they aren't great performance tires, snow just isn't bad enough here for me to justify full winters. I've done just fine on the summer tires (before I joined the forum and got ed-ju-ma-cated) and on all-season the past two.

How long do you want them to last? Running any negative camber? One season is enough. -2.3 front and -1.9 rear

Drive often in the rain? No, unless I get stuck in a storm.

This is for the P5 and I have the Milly for winter/DD. I'm not sold on these Star Specs. I know they were auto-x'ed from teh previous owner Ivan bought them from but the Spec2's were much stickier in the corners. I was thinking of something with a 100 to 200 tread wear again. Something for performance and about $800 max.

The DWS are one if the best all season tires made. Look at tbe tread design and you will see tbe cross cut tbread for snow. Also, the DW's are one if the best handling tires I have driven in the rain. True enough tbe sude walls are soft, but the grip is excellent and the dry handling is superb too.
