FS-DE Oil System

eBay. Or pull the shaft out and cut it shorter, but make sure to smooth the end down nice so you'll be able to get a nut back on it.

So I'm pretty sure my pump took a crap on my at my last autoX. Are these kits still for sale? PM me please, I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions :) Thanks!

On a daily driver is it good to and possible just to only do the mod on the pump and put it on ? Or you have to do the whole regulator stuff too and relocation of filter ?

The pump upgrade by itself helps but the whole mod with the external regulator is really improves the system. there are a few forum members that have done just the pump.

If you want your pump done PM me and I will give you the details.

Thanks!

My oil pressure is 18 - 20psi at warm idle. The service manual should give a reference of what oil psi should be stock so then you can adjust up from there.

My oil pressure is usually 15-20 psi @ idle when warmed up. The lowest I have seen was about 12psi @ idle. My oil system is stock and I'm running 5w-30 Pennzoil Platinum and an 02 626 v6 K&N oil filter. I have an Autometer Ultra-lite II mechanical gauge tapped of the stock oil pressure sensor port.

ok cool thanks. Can i go any higher or lower or does it have to be right at 25?

25 psi at idle is just a zone to shoot for. It will ultimately depend on what type of oil and the viscosity you are running to determine what exactly your idle pressure will be. Also, be careful that when the car is cold that you don't get too high of pressures as most non-racing oil filters will explode with pressures over 90 - 100 psi.

sounds good thanks! Wish I could say that with those numbers you are in good shape. However, idle oil pressure is not an indicator of the ability of your oil system. :(

I see spikes over 70psi when cold. As for the health of my system, I can't remember exactly what pressures I see when warm but I think it was following about 10-12psi/1000rpm. I'll have to take another look after I get my braided oil pressure line installed.

The only information I've found so far for the FS-DE oil pressure is that it should be somewhere between 57-71psi @ 3000rpm. Doesn't that sound too high?

Also, my MSP has run 5w30 full synthetic since 5,000mi (first Mobil1 now Pennzoil Platinum) and has gotten its oil changes and filter every 5,000mi. My car now has 65k on it and the engine is stock. I know that doesn't guarantee that my oil system is ok but it may be the best stock baseline available.

MP3racer, thanks for putting out a great product. One of these days I'll build my spare engine and send you the oil pump so you can work your majic.
