drove her today and passed by another spicy. Honked twice and the dude started hanging out the window throwing a thumbs up with a crazy face. Looks like I found another local enthusiast

saw the commercial for the new Mac. I want it so badHas nothing to do with the protege but I bought a Mac today, pretty exciting.
from what ive seen theres nothing stopping anyone from smashing your window and pressing the button to start. usually when they come from factory it comes with a fob that must be in the general vecinity of the car in order to start it, usually you actually have to be INSIDE the car to make it work. from the research ive just done they do not offer this, especially with the cheap >$100 kits. itd probably be more expensive to implement a proximity sensor, hence why only more luxurious cars have themalso -
anybody have/consider a keyless ignition/push start button? i'm seeing these kits all over the place and it seems fairly easy to install...
There's that whole steering lock feature...from what ive seen theres nothing stopping anyone from smashing your window and pressing the button to start. usually when they come from factory it comes with a fob that must be in the general vecinity of the car in order to start it, usually you actually have to be INSIDE the car to make it work. from the research ive just done they do not offer this, especially with the cheap >$100 kits. itd probably be more expensive to implement a proximity sensor, hence why only more luxurious cars have them
if the button goes where the key goes, you disable that. If it's the kind you put in the cig lighter it's stupid. You still need the key and turn it to the on position which makes it more work than turning the key just a little bit further. There's that whole steering lock feature...
