What have you done to your P5 today?

I pulled the largest single piece of rust from my P5 today:

I was going to try patching up a small hole in the right strut tower, but as I knocked away all the loose rust it became apparent that this wasn't going to be a simple fix. This is what it looks like after I cleared away most of the loose rust:

While I was pondering what to do about this mess, my neighbour came home and asked what I was doing to my car this afternoon. I showed him the hole(s) and he pretty much said there's no way in hell I could ever fix that. There's so much more rust underneath that even if I patched that up, a couple months down the road there would be new holes and I'd be in a similar predicament. So I've decided that I'm no longer going to even think about fixing anything rust-related on this car, it would just be a waste of time (I think Phen came to this realization a long time ago).

After that depressing moment, I figured with the bumper off it would be easy to fix my left-side fog light since it hasn't been working for a while. I assumed it was the bulb but it actually turned out to be the wire harness; this is the second time a wire was so badly corroded that it broke off that particular harness. When I was disconnecting the harness from the fog lamp the other wire broke off! There was no point in trying to mend it, so I made a brand new one out of some good wire that will probably outlast the car...

you should def put those wheels on with your car since its lowered! i wish i still had them but CT roads arent as well suited for such low profile tires
Agreed. Know what his plans are for them? You should coax him into saving them for me! It's only an hour drive, I'll meet with him :D

drove it to work. cleaned the rims yesterday. getting a weird idle since yesterday. really making me think its the egr valve. i think its time to attempt to get it out again and see if i have any luck this time.

^haha, around here they're very common so seeing one isn't very exciting. I'd say there's at least ten of them within a 15min walking distance from my house.

Oh wow. I've been keeping track of everyone I've seen in my whole city. I've just about seen one in every color and that's it. The drivers always stand out so I know if I see the same car

There's four P5's in my area (a silver, a black, and a red) but they're all driven by old ladies and men. There used to be a yellow one running around driven by a girl in probably her 20's but I haven't seen it in a while. I've literally only ever seen ONE other laser blue P5 other than mine.

I've never seen a laser blue in person. I see a white one, silver one, red one, black one, 2-3 in my car (grrr), and a yellow once. Mostly all older woman an men. Most of these have some sort of; aftermarket bike rack, or sticker that shows their love for hiking, mountains, fishing, etc.
Definitely a hippie-mobile or crazy cat-lady car around here

Actually that's pretty much how it always sits.. front springs were cut, courtesy of the previous owner... -.- Guess they forgot to do the rears..
New struts and springs are the next thing on my to do list

Sweet looking Valve Cover BRIAN_MP5T and love the custom cap.

Cool Story Bro time.....

Well I so have it that I overheated today! Of all things.... I went to emissions to meet the wife and said eff it and decided to do mine as well ( we live in a non emissions area but I am driving my car in one so I decided to do it anyways ). While waiting for the wife to arrive I went ahead. Everything went smooth and the P5 passed with flying colors. Parked and waited for the wife to get the Speed3 to get the emissions done. While waiting for her to finish, my A/C starts to blow hot and I see my temp climbing. Shut off the engine and checked to find my overflow tank was doing it's job LOL. After cool down I told the wife lets see how far I can get as I suspected the fans to be the culprits ( had about 15 miles to get home ). Turned on the Heater to the max, lowered my windows and took off. Highway driving was perfect and all was cool and normal which almost confirmed my suspicion. Got it home safe and the motor had sucked the overflow back in which was a good sign.

Opened the hood and temps were WAY lower which was also good. Checked the fuses and my Cooling Fan fuse is blown. I had a suspicion my fan/s were going as I would hear a noise when I would shut down the motor, like something ticking and winding down. Now going to buy both fans for the P5. I only wish I had the stock ones but I am going to have to buy aftermarket like the ones I have on now. May even just do the thermostat as well to get that done with.
