What was Mazda/Callaway thinking with internals and EMS????? ::First impressions::

I have noticed over the few years that I have been on here that there is a viscous cycle when it comes to the MSP. Only when they cycle through new owners though. This info has been debated and debated over and over again over the years. It's nothing new. Instead of talking about the negative things, why don't you talk about where the car shines at, like HANDLING. The car wasn't built for power....which that has also been said millions of times. If you are trying to make power with the car, talk about what your plans are instead of talking about what "should have been done". Because with all of the talking, at the end of the day your MSP will be waiting in your driveway with all the things you talked about on here. We all know the downfalls this car has. We also know the potential the car has. Every member on here knows that the FS is just a regular motor with the turbo slapped on it with a pig rich tune. So honestly, there is no reason to bring everything back up again. Use the search button and you will find thread after thread about the FS motor. The topic has been beat to death already. This thread reminds me of threads from when the car came out in 2003. Sorry if I piss anyone off with this but really, use the search button or just go to the MSP engine and performance threads and go back several years and I guarantee you will see more threads like this. Bottom line, instead of complaining about the FS motors performance. Do something about it. Build the motor, order some type of EMS, and be happy with it.

you dont even need to build it. just buy an ssafc and subtract 2 from all your values pretty much. or just get an ssafc and there are base tunes online.

I get it.........really i do...But why the frustration? and WHY would I search the forums for OTHER PEOPLES rants??? Let me have mine! Let 03MSP86 have his! This car reminds me of my ex; it's a love/hate relationship.....is it not?

What would these forums, OR the MSP for that matter be WITHOUT all the debate? or as you say 'vicious cycle'?

Of course I see the potential and I plan to tap into it as time goes along, but let me be a new owner, I doubt I'll be talking about the FSDE or the 'negatives' as you say, as time goes along. You mean to tell me 'new owners' stay 'new owners' and always and forever talk about the car in a negative light???

okay, to please you 'yes, the car handles great' (yeah, im being sarcastic, but there is truth in that, i won't deny it)

And I'm speaking as the owner of a Mazda 11 years older than the MSP I have, and using that car as my point of reference. Imagine me complaining about this car from the jump like "What they should have done is......" You can say ANYTHING about what "should have" been done, I'm just talking about from the point of reference from other Mazdas of past, (ie they SHOULD have used a BP as the base engine, they SHOULD have taken this and that from this or that Mazda and built upon it, etc)

Spiced has it. If you hate the car so much get rid of it. I have multiple people always telling me to junk mine. It's just too pretty to part with though.

pretty much when spiced is saying we are getting tired or he is anyways of hearing people b**** and moan about the car and yet do nothing about it. We are all away of the short comings and downfalls of this car. Their is a reason why the ECU hasn't been hacked. There are much better platforms to start out with modding but the same can be said about there beign much worse plat forms.

I get why don't you give up and get a honda all the time. lol

Dude, I get where your coming from, youve been here a while and have been through all the cycles of new owners but........... WERE NEW OWNERS! Im glad your aware of all the issues and benefits of the car but..... WERE NEW OWNERS..... Look at the :welcome area: forum, theres 15 threads. Maybe 1k total for the entire MSP forum. Thats not a lot of information or discussion considering its a 9-10 yr old car. You have experienced things, we havent, and there is constantly going to be cycles of new owners. As much as you say "we know" "we dont wanna hear it".... Its a forum for discussion, and makes things a little easier to find information and reviews in one thread. Rather than sift through "I broke xxx help me" threads. The fact is it couldve been better. Nobodies bashing it. ITS AN AWESOME CAR! As I recently said, my car has been running pretty good. I dont wanna jinx it. Personally, from what Ive read, I strongly believe with little improvements, (quaife, ems, forged, exhaust, intercooler) you can make this car a healthy, strong, AND RELIABLE vehicle. As it was INTENDED BUT NOT DONE BY MAZDA. LOL But OBVIOUSLY IF YOU BEAT ON AAAANY CAR, ITS GOING TO BLOW, just gotta roll with the punches and take it as it comes......

And as for, do nothing about it... Takes time my friend, parts and labor arent cheap. Everyone posts when theres something wrong. This is supposed to be more of a review/discussion thread for NEW OWNERS. Cuz really, until something breaks, or someone "does something new today" theres really no discussions.

I feel like you may have forgotten the joys of being a new owner and finding out the in's and out's of a new ride. Takes seat time, experience, and sometimes a lot of research, which we lack! SRT, EVO, MS6 are all newer models but have over 10,000 threads in their forums. Because the cars were better built from the factory and people fell in love with them harder and longer, plus obv theres more of them

But ya, its a discussion dude. I love my MSP. I hit boost the other day and got whip lash. hahahah "VTEC- All lag, none of the boost", not to mention 1 handed cornering with ease, and AWESOME SOUND SYSTEM lol I wont drive VTEC ever again. Even Audi/VW 1.8T are no comparison in the performance department.

The MSP welcome/lounge area is not where you post problems with the car. That's what the MSP problems and help area is for. Also, there is probably 15 threads there because you didn't scroll down and pick how far back you wanted to show posted threads. So, of course the most recent threads are going to be shown. Not trying to start anything at all. It just gets old sometimes seeing the same discussions brought up comparing the FS to other motors and talking about the downfalls of the car. There has been a ring of the same questions asked over the past few weeks about "why my car is bogging down", "i think my car is misfiring". But I never complain about those because they are asking for help. As long as the forum can help someone with their car problems and hopefully make their day better...no matter now many times the question was asked that day, the mission was accomplished. But seeing the same discussion threads pop up gets old. That's were the search button comes in to play. Also, yes everyone was a new owner at some point and from what I have seen while on this forum, they posted asking for advice. I haven't seen anyone post threads specifically about the downfalls of the car like this thread. Me personally, when I got my car I wasn't even aware of this forum yet. The only major issue I had was a snapped diff and that got replaced rather quickly under warranty too. I also had the bogging down on a completely stock motor at the time. But I was new and didn't think anything of it. I finally found this forum and instead of posting threads about these issues. I just browsed the forum and found out that everything I would have asked about the car has already been asked plenty of times. So my answers to everything I needed to know are already here. But you are right about new problems and new updates. That is about the only time, new posts or threads are posted. There isn't that many of us compared to other platforms. And some of the older members either don't get on as much, moved on or are banned. But the information is here and if you guys can't find it. We will be more than happy to help out with the cars problems. But anyway, enough with me ranting. As you stated earlier, you guys are new. Also probably aren't fully aware of the plethora of information here. You guys will get the hang of it after some time navigating through the forum.

I'm out of the mazda game. Getting a teg with a LS vtec . No worries though because I'm dropping a H22 in it. Peace out Mazdas

What??? I hope you are just joking. If not, Sell me that downpipe. Sad to see another MSP owner leave. But I guess you gotta move on sometime

AAaAAAAHHHHh OMFG YOU ALMOST GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK!!! I LITERALLY JUST CAME FROM AN LS VTEC CIVIC!!! BBBBBBBOOOOOOOOO!!!! I can personally and 100% attest to VTEC lag hahahahah I WILL NEVER POP VTEC AGAIN!!!!! WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!! VTEC KICKIN is still torque less compared to boost kicking in hahahah

Ive driven 1.8T's and never liked it at all. Its comfortable and a nice ride. A lot smoother, but too quiet, and not as tourqey or powerful. The MSP really is amazing, If I was gonna build a boosted OEM car, I wouldve followed this template rather than Audi's.

On a side note about Honda's...... My boy got the SSSSICKEST deal last night! He was looking to upgrade the exhaust in his CIVIC and came across an ad on craigslist from someone looking to get "out the Honda game" he got a turbo manifold, turbo, AEM fuel rail, and cam gear, catch can, oil return line, a bunch of stuff AND THE HKS EXHAUST SYSTEM for UNDER 300$$$$ Its probably all stolen but you dont find Mazda deals like that around. hahahah Kind of irrelevent to bring up, but talking Honda aaaand I MMMMMMIGHT get the turbo, gonna look at it today and see whats up

I love these threads, so much passion!!! I bought mine new, I went through the love/hate cycle. I even sent e-mails to Racing Beat and Kenwood to rant about their swaybar bushing garbage design and floating subwoofer deck. The story is that Mazda needed a tuned compact car to get into the Sentra Spec-V and Civic SI market. Many of the designs proposed by the aftermarket companies were rejected and substituted by cheaper designs by Mazda. I had every MSP addition to my MSP fail (double tape on body kit, light on wing, turbo, cracked manifold, cracked plastic pipes, seats, subwoofer, subwoofer tray, heard unit, wastegate, swaybar bushings....) so it is clear that this car was rushed and Mazda spend no time testing it. Now, did that prevent me from enjoying my MSP? Hell now, I had a blast with that car. I made sure Mazda repaired every problem of my car under warranty, it's the price to pay for rushing a product. It had the looks, I could throw it around like a go kart and it had enough power for moderate fun. In the end I sold it because I couldn't leave my wife with a car that required continuos attention to keep it reliable. The desappointment is from knowing that Mazda could have made it so much better with very little additional cost (which people would have paid for anyway). But it was fun, I miss my MSP once in a while, then I step on the gas of my MS6 and I am happy again....

Not a honda fan, but I'll always love the 94 Integra GSR. Learned how to drive stick in that car, and what vtec kicking in was yo!

Yeah, boooooyyyyy! Pop VTEC! (Whatever the **** that means.)

I don't think Vtec was originally designed to cause whiplash
My cousins b16 swapped crx had that effect though.

CRX= God's chariot.

I dont really think God would drive a honda ever.
I could see this though
