Lift gate/trunk issue

I've searched and searched, but can not find an answer anywhere so I figured I would post here. Has anyone had an issue with the rear lift gate not locking? On the wife's '07 the hatch will not lock weather we use the lock button in the car or from the remote. Am I missing something? I looked for a safety switch or something like that, but couldn't find anything.

Your hatch latch which also incorporates the lock actuator needs to be replaced. The actuator probably went out and is not locking the handle. I don't know how much the part is but replacing it should be very easy through the big access cover in the hatch interior panel. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I was pretty sure it was at least the actuator that went bad. I usually shop on Rock Auto for my other car parts, but I couldn't find this part there. Have you (or anyone else) had to do this before? if so where did you get the part? I came up empty at Napa too...so I'm stumped...a link would be great if you have one.

Well I've never had to replace the hatch latch but I did replace the left slider actuator and it was pretty simple. I work for a dealer network so I always buy OEM parts because I get them as cheap if not cheaper then aftermarket parts.

If you pull off the access cover on the inside you'll see everything and be able to compare this.
