Prince Valorum's 95 626 Build Thread

Haha...actually they could be now, I suppose..since I don't need winter wheels/tires for the car. They are not in THAT good of shape, they all have curb rash, and the center caps could use a respray, but there is nothing wrong with them..Let me make sure everything works out with the new wheels before I do anything else..I just had tires put on the swirlies too, lol.

First you wanted my ASA's, then Wes's FD's, now Johns swirlies. Make up your mind, woman! haha

he know's he wants them pink

whatever i get they may be pink. i want wes' fds most but it depends on size and price

i see that you want some parts from a 929 for your upcoming build.... i JUST found a 929 at my local junk yard, got here last week, and has plenty of parts for youz.

Wow, I've never even seen one in person before. The only thing I wanted was the master cylinder, and that's if I do the brake upgrade. I'd just get one from RockAuto, I don't really trust a used unit, ya know?

Kind of big update. I put a deposit tonight on a bunch of stuff. This swap should be well on its way to having most of the parts, now. Stuff I reserved:

Rebuilt KLZE with headwork, full swap, including engine harness, intermediate shaft and Xtremethings ECU
Greddy SP2 catback
JJ resonated test pipe
and Walbro 190lph (in case n2o is still in the cards....)

wow that is a big update.

and yeah id never seen one in person either. but i could pull the injectors or any other part that youre interested in off, just let me know!

Hmm, we might work something out for those FD's. I'll have to think about it, I'm not sure what other goodies a 929 may have.

you let me know and ill jump on it. the motor and everything is intact iirc. the damage is to the passenger door and the passenger fender i think

Nice to see the update! Where are you getting the ZE from?

Tyler/Suprakid366's partout on PT. I got a message from Monoxide that his motor wasn't running right and he was losing to DE's, though, so I'm kind of second guessing things now. I think that was more in the past, and Tyler said he got the K6F manual tensioner as the belt had slack and had skipped a tooth, along with leaky injectors causing it to bog under load.

He still isn't pulling primo compression numbers, and this is copied from his thread:

"Back in winter when we first got the motor in the car and had big issues with the fuel injectors and rails dumping fuel into the motor, the engine compression tested with 208-210 on every hole. 2 weeks ago compression tested it in summer with a new battery, engine warmed up and the numbers are:
195 189 190
190 197 194
This test was very weird. Each first puff the needle would go past 60 psi which is good. But once it hit around 180 about the needle would move slightly on each compression stroke. But it would keep going. But once we got these numbers the motor was on i would say the 10 puff so we just stopped."

I'm kind of thinking the motor might have a decent bit of mileage on it, as the p/s pump has been replaced, the tensioner failed, and the injectors started leaking, on top of the sub-optimal compression numbers. I need to call him again and talk things over. For what he was asking, I thought everything was in tip top shape. He told me the motor had about 1500 miles on it, but that was since the head rebuild, so who knows what's on the bottom end.

Man... know what I'd give to have 190 lbs of compression on any one of my cars?

For reference, the MSM was between 137 and 140 across the board. The Bav after the rebuild was 166-170 (and still there after 15k miles). I'd be more likely to attribute the really high compression to dumped fuel just chillin in the combustion chamber.

I bet you're right. Fluid doesn't compress very well. Other people with ZE's in good shape have pulled numbers in the 200's-210's, from what I've seen. He guessed there were about 60k miles on it, said it was super clean inside and out when he got it. Apparently the manual tensioner is because the hydraulic one couldn't keep up with the new Interprep valve springs because they're so much stiffer than stock. I feel better about things now that I talked to him again last night.

Iirc, I pulled between 170's-180's on my current FS, burning oil and all. I was surprised, I thought one cylinder would be way lower, but they were all acceptably similar.

They are all within 15% of each other...190+ is still pretty good..the fact is the engines are old, most low mile ones have been sitting for a while..also, who knows exactly how he did the compression testing..

My 10:1 rebuild only pulled ~200 when we would compression test it, but it still made over 180whp with stock DE heads/cams..

Now if only Wes could make up his mind on if he wants the motor and how he's going to pick it up... I only ask him 15 times a day. haha
