Can't wait for spring

There is not much snow here in upstate NY but the temps are between 35-40 and even lower in AM. I am not complaining it could be worse. But I am constantly having to submit my MZ5 to Deltasonic carwash to wash off the salt and I hate it. Nothin like a good hand wash. And the interior has about 5 layers of dust because I refuse to have I cleaned by Deltasonic so the can scratch up everything. But when I see the Audis and BMWs going through I don't fell as bad.

Washing your car continuously in cold temperatures because of salt in a lot of cases is the worse thing to do. Salt does nothing unless it is warm and wet. In cold temps it is relatively inert. Plus you are constantly forcing water into the engine bay to freeze and potentially cause damge.

Once every couple of weeks is fine, but you are just wasting your money doing it all the time in this weather and having it dirty again in a couple miles after the wash.

Moderation is the key.

It was in the 50s here (F), so I washed my Mazda5 twice then gave it a coat of wax. And used some tire cleaner, as well as some wheel cleaner. And some Rain-X on the windshield.

It looks nice again - the wax was overdue, I hadn't put on a coat of wax in at least a year.

I have a 09 Mazda 3 GT as my winter beater, I wash it often and usually get rid of it for a new car every two or three years.

Looks like this year is the year to get a new Mazda 3..
