I didnt even think anyone made a short shifter for the 6 speeds.

i just picked up one of these...they get rave reviews over at mazda-speed.com...the 2-3 mis shifts kills me, they say this cures it!

alright, you let us know what you think then. I don't think the throws are particularly long now, but it does have a lot of play, and every now and then I'll miss a shift. Did you get the stock height or the other one?

Comparing apples to oranges here... but I missed shifts more often when I had the short shifter in my Civic than I do with the current GSR shifter. YMMV, of course.

The 6 speed is rather sloppy... especially compared to the 5 speeds. Bushings would make a nice difference.

I usually miss 5th, and if I'm shifting fast then 2nd sometimes is a bit hard. People on the forums claim they have to be very careful when shifting at the track, and that this shifter has helped a lot with that, we'll see what Mahk says

Oh, and I've decided to get the wheels. I'll be getting a couple other things for her depending on the funds. I have a chance of getting a beater for a really good price, it needs some work but it runs. I'd rather put off the track time this year and be able to have a beater for next winter, no more salt for the MSM and I can carry over whatever time I earn this year with NASA

i like the 6 speed in the msm, it's very easy to shift even under heavy acceleration!


would possibly want my other set of stock '05 RH's with StarSpecs? they only have about 4k miles on them and no real heat cycles... though i don't know if you'd want such heavy wheels...

i'm going to put them on my protege and see how they fit/look/perform and decide if i want them, but i don't, you'll be the first to know!

They're really not that heavy Kevin... they're just not crazy light. Pablo, just a heads up, and I don't want to take away from Kevin's sale at all, but his are a bit tall. If you plan to lower in the near future at all, you will have rubbing issues. They're probably comparable in height to the Saturn wheels

the TWM was considerably heavier than the stock one, but I can shift better with the VooDoo knob which is lighter (and smaller). I think I'm spoiled with the TWM from the speed3 and the 3, hence why I keep looking to improve the feel of this one.

lol, it's fine! and they are 215/45R17...they rub sometimes on my stock ride height, only in the front and generally over bumps or dips.

I do love those RHs but there are a lot of good (and cheap) options.

oh, there are many; i personally like the look of 15 or 16's on miata's; anything bigger look funny...

yes!!! i've found weighted shift knobs really help with the msm!
