What have you done to your MSP today?

I would not fill your AC system with that system. The gauge is useless and you could over fill your system. I would buy a set of cheap manifolds from a parts store so you can have a accurate pictures of what is going on if you really want to learn.
Yeah, but for a cheap manifold gauge set he's going to spend at least $75 a parts store and probably $50 online... Plus he'd have to know what he's looking at. Which I don't doubt he could do, but even I wouldn't waste my money on a gauge set. So, all in all, he may just want to take it to a shop.

K, guess I'll have to just check some prices out around here. Blah...

Hopefully that is actually the issue and it's not electrical...

Good price mine was $80 5yrs ago :(

The ac light isn't doing the flickering thing on certain fan speeds right? Just the compressor quit kicking on and its plugged into the harness right :)

Correct. AC light comes on but the AC and Fan do not kick on. Also there is no click from the relay under the hood.

Damn, I charge about $120 for an evac and recharge... An evac and recharge will most definitely tell you it's a low refrigerant problem. Ask them if they add a UV leak detection dye. If not, request it. That way, you can identify a leak yourself.

Okie dokie :D

If your ac had been dropping in temp the week or so before I'd say your okay, mine did the same thing just started blowing warm air and no compressor. They will do a leak test when the re-fill.

My buddy has a friend that does AC...said he would check the pressure and top me off and only charge me the $15/lb for the freon if any is needed.

Might just do that and go from there to see if its the pressure switch. Because if it is the switch, doesnt the system have to be evacuated before replacing that?

if you believe in manbearpig then yes you need to remove the freon before doing that

Really its better to recover all the refrigerant no matter how low it is and then do a complete charge. Some AC units are super sensitive on being too full or two low. When I was doing commercial refrigerant some machines had to be spot on or they didn't work. But those were the ones that also took like 6 oz of freon total.

It wouldnt be the end of the world, if you know what you are doing you can get close by just looking at the gauges, and using ambient air temp. But that would tell you if you are low. Because lets say you add some and the compressor starts cycling then you know it was cut off on low pressure.

yeah....I just realized I'm a total moron (hand)

I'll retest the switch tonight to see if the AC kicks on lol

for anyone interested....here is the graph for appropriate pressure readings for our AC system
