What have you done to your Miata today?

People have broken sway bar brackets when autocrossing their Miata with the big Racing Beat tubular bars and stock springs. With stiffer aftermarket springs + no autocross, I agree with James that you won't be breaking anything. If you're worried though there are HD mounts that you can buy.

Due to improper installation, yes people have broken sway bar brackets. If you install them correctly, you won't have any problem. I've had the big sway bar on mine for what? almost 6 years now? And the car was / is used nearly exclusively for motorsports... currently on pretty huge slicks (first event with the slicks, the VLSD pooped the bed...). Never bent or broken a stock suspension component though.

thanks guys that's good, I actually did get the HD mounts with everything else just to be on the safe side . everything arrived today from gomiata. pretty good considered I ordered it Saturday. then again I do live like less than 2 hours away from their warehouse. haha

but there is some bad news, apparently apexi discontinued the n1 coilover exv for the Mx-5. :(
So I am talking to jdm hub(were I ordered the coilovers from) to see what the have that is equal in quality and nearly the same price. Hopefully it is something good. .

I finally got a stock shift knob to replace the aftermarket Momo crap the previous owner put in. Shifting bliss! Much, much better.

looking to add some gauges to the car and figured while i'm putting in a sandwich plate for the oil gauges, why nto relocate at the same time?

Found this on Ebay which looks like i wouldn't need a sandwich plate as it already has 2 threaded spots in addition to the spot for the oil lines

Is this worth looking into even though i need to source the hoses seperate? Considering the sandwhich plate is $35 alone, this doesn't seem too bad

dude, we definitely have to get together...how about F1 http://www.f1boston.com/ and dinner? get me the dates and times you can get together and i'll see what we can do

The battery in my Me-otter was dead enough she wouldn't start yesterday, so I had to put it on the battery charger. To my surprise, the battery in the car is the original Panasonic.

(Yes, I have a trickle/low amp battery charger.)

Here is what is going in:

JVC KD-R720 Headunit.
Kenwood - KAC-1502S Amp
Clearwater speaker replacements.

I figure it should take me about a day to install, mount, and get it setup.

Nice. I would like to do a different head unit in my MSM... but it's not like I'd hear it anyway.

Last thing I did to my MSM... I thought about it, then shrugged it off.

Sounds good.

Hmm... I think I am out of shrink-y-dink wrapping stuff for the wiring.

Edit:
Phen: You should look into what Shalon is getting into her Miata.

Speaking of Clearwater Speakers... I love how you can buy them direct from their site for 160 bucks, but resellers want 200-220 bucks plus shipping.

How complicated is it to change out the Bose HU for an aftermarket one keeping the stock speakers and amps?

It's not all that hard to change out the headunit, but if you want to keep the stock speakers and amp you will need to get a line converter to hook it into the stock amp. Since all the signal processing is done in the BOSE amp, why would you want to that anyway? It would essentially sound the same, but on the upside you'd have the modern technology (satellite radio, USB drives, iPod, etc...)

However, if you hooked the aftermarket headunit directly to the speakers you could get better sound quality, but should make sure the head unit can handle it. The BOSE speakers are .5 Ohms while most* aftermarket speakers are 4 Ohms. I can explain this WAYYYY in depth to the point I think only Phen would get, but let's just say less resistance = more amp = More load on the headunit.

Well I'd assume I'd keep the amps and have the headunit just send an audio signal to them.

piece of cake, 10 min job, mostly wiring the harness adapter. My only "issue" was taking it out since I only had part of the tools handy

Wait Peach... Did you just hook it directly in? Like... sent an already amplified signal into the BOSE amplifier?
