Eibach or H&R?

Alright, it's between Eibach and H&R for me. it looks like the Eibach has very slightly less drop, but not enough to really matter one way or the other. Neither company publishes spring rates as far as I've seen. Eibach says they're progressive, i don't see anywhere wither H&Rs are progressive or not.

I've got the Corksport front and rear sways and was planning on following their suspension path with the H&Rs, but there aren't tons of reviews out on the Eibachs yet and i'd like to make an informed decision, especially if the H&Rs aren't progressive.

Thoughts? anyone been in 2s with both yet?

My 2 has the H&Rs, but only for a week so can't give it a complete review. I love em so far. My PGT had the Eibachs and they weren't too bad, ended up using Ground Control anyway lol.

You can't go wrong with either one. I've got Eibachs on my 2 (posted a pic in the other subforum). I've had Eibachs on many of my other vehicles too. I've never had a single issue with them. The only reason I've picked Eibachs over H&R is because I can usually find the Eibachs cheaper than the H&Rs, especially with Eibach having a 10% mail in rebate right now.

Flip a coin?

Our shop Mazda 2 is on H&Rs

yeah, and the fact that your front and rear sways were benchmarked with the H&Rs makes me lean towards them. Also supporting corksport is a benny cause you guys have been awesome.

all else is equal i'll be going H&R, im just looking for any insight into differences, cause they look pretty similar to me.

My only experience is with 2-wheeled racing, but most suspension tuners in that arena consider progressive springs kind of a sham. In reality you go through most of the "soft" part of the spring with just the weight of the motorcycle (or car) and you're left on the "hard" part with very little suspension travel leftover. Better off with a straight rate spring somewhere in between. I'm not sure how people feel about it with cars but I would assume the same thinking applies. I don't think it'd be easy to properly tune a set of shocks for progressive springs either. But WTF do I know...

How do you like your CS setup?

comparing both, the HNR springs give a lower drop at the front than eibach (around 1/2 inch diff). HNR springs are stiffer.

these are based from 1.5l a/t hatches here in the ph.

If this question is for me, I love it. I drive the shop 2 most of the time and autocross it as well. The ride is firm but not annoying and the grip level is incredible. The only thing I am not looking forward to is driving the car in snow with the Kuhmo EXS tires, lol.

I wonder if Tein will ever offer S-Techs for the 2. I love the way the factory suspension handles, I just want an inch or so of drop without sacrificing ride comfort.

^^^I'm in the exact same boat. Love the factory suspension but I'd like it just alittle bit lower. Enough to help close the wheel gap a touch but doesn't bounce me all over the place.

I agree with DrWebster and Suddueth13. I tried the Bilstein coilovers, thinking the springs matched with the shocks would provide a lower yet similar factory ride. The 2 looked great. Unfortunately, the ride was too firm for my taste.

I commute for 2 hours a day in my 2 with H&Rs. Its a bit stiffer than stock but nowhere near as rough as my PGT w/ the Tokico/Ground Control setup. You gotta pay to play and in this case the currency is your kidneys.
