The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

A buddy of mine had one 2 weeks ago down here, it left him on the side of the road. In sight of Las Vegas. In the desert. Car had less than 5000 miles. Mine's never been quite right, squeaks, rattles, brakes vibrate... also less than 5000 miles on mine. Just calling it based on experience. I do hope it serves you well... but (shrug)

I'm not really a fan of American cars and I probably won't own one any time soon, but if I did, I would definitely buy a Ford. I feel like they really stepped it up and their cars are looking better and better. I remember every time I went to the Detroit auto show, the Ford section would be packed. GM and Dodge would be empty (although I haven't gone in 3 years so maybe it's changed).

It is an Escape and I don't know what model you have but ours is pretty ******' sweet.

For now....... ;)

Nothing on you, but I don't trust Ford SUVs at all.

Edit: And Evan #2, that is because Ford has really changed their car line around. The Fusion is nice, the new Focus is just amazing (personally driven), and the new Taurus is actually pretty top end as Ford intended. However, their SUV line still remains something that needs to be proven. Although, the new Exploder(Explorer) has my eye as far as styling goes...

Can't tell if srs. I guess with enough chrome, real styling isn't required.... It's not even an SUV anymore. It's just an extra fat car. It's fwd, mpg improvement is marginal at best and can't tow for crap.

If I had to get a Ford it would be a regular cab, long bed 4x4 with the ecoboost with all of the tow packages and none of the extra girly s*** like nav, heated seats, carpet (should have spray out rubber liner) or leather. It's a truck, not a friggin princess limo. The just need a manual option (Dodge is currently the only truck with manual, sadly..) and it would be good.

I'm thinking of naming mine "Hunter". Even on the interstate on cruise this thing can't figure out what gear it wants to be in. Seems like a great way to burn up an automatic tranny.

I said for styling only.. Chrome is meh, towing blah, MPGs are lol... I was just saying for looks only. I like the lines and design only. I still would never own one.

went to see Nick at work, came home with this:

I'm getting laid tonight(cabpatch)

Gets home and what's the first thing you do? Post your new car on the forum. That's funny s***!

Glad you both love it. It will treat you well. Don't let anyone else say otherwise. I'd like to get Megan an Escape too, but we just don't have the money at the moment. :(

Ford SUVs are some of the best on the road. I personally like the Edge myself, and with the new EcoBoost engine, really cool/innovative. MyFord Touch/Sync is one of the better voice-activated systems on the market.

Well I guess we'll see. My dad's 05 Freestyle has had some odd quirks, along with the Ford tradition of eating end links, twice it's emptied the p/s reservoir (with no signs of leaking) somehow while it holds fluid fine the rest of the time. The driver's window control usually puts the driver's window down, even when pulled up--had the switch replaced, still does it. The CVT has already started to make some weird moves that make me wonder about how long it'll last, and he's got under 70k on it. Sometimes it lurches while shifting from P to D, and it's lurched while coming to a stop, along with other "auto on the way out the door" signs. He doesn't even have a hitch. There have been other issues (honestly can't remember off hand), which collectively, I think are a bit much for such a new vehicle especially with the mileage where it is.

it wasn't the first thing I did, that was turn on football. Are you gonna go over Amber's awesome trade-in tomorrow to see how bad it really is?

So Nate, how about that nudity and heavy breathing? Nice looking Escape btw.

no pics of that, sorry

Nice looking ride Nate! I'm sure she's happy.

Haha small world! My best friend actually works there as a programmer. It seems like a good place to work and they're getting big. One of the owners of ECS gets to drive the company car....which happens to be an Audi R8 hahaha!

That's pretty cool that something like that is close to home. Seems like a dream job for an enthusiast!

I should specify that I meant the newer SUVs. (lol2)

Anything with the CVT in it I don't like. Freestyles and 500 we don't keep on the lot. Sucks your dad has had issues. My mom's 03 Sable wagon ran like a champ the 7 years and 120k she put on it. And she never really took care of it outside of just oil changes and tire rotations. Outside of a squeaky driver window and having to replace a taillight bulb, it never gave her an issue. It's still running in NY somewhere according to the CarFax.

You want to see junk? Check out a Chevy TrailBlazer with the same mileage.

I'm going to move it around back before my boss comes back from the auction and hope to God he doesn't see it.

My, aren't we a cheery, happy bunch here?

Not to further the Escape discussion, but I do hope they improved them over the years. 4 co-workers of mine had them. Only 1 didn't grenade its transmission at 30k miles.

But if we want to talk about REAL pieces of s***. You should check out that little red drop top that I've been driving around...

i dunno what all the hate on the escapes are, my boss has an 09 with 110k on it, barely takes care of it (just oil changes then fixes things when they go down)
but that thing hasnt given him any issues

seeing the abuse his has taken, id rock an escape if i were in the market for a small suv

congrats on the new vehicle nate, hope it serves you well and doesnt give you many issues

I would totally buy a ford!
Sucks to hear about the freestyle, I LOVE those things. I test drove one and it drove like a car despite being big! I really want a 7 seater vehicle soon!

Enjoy your new car!! It looks nice!

Forza 4... today. Who else is getting it?

lol, i'm glad you're trying to change the subject... i downloaded the sample of the game and since i only have the xbox controller, it's really hard to well...control, especially without the fancy wheel and pedals... i don't know if i can afford those though...
