Going NA?! Someone talk me out of this

Hi friends, I need your help. I've had some major reliability issues lately with my msp (to the point where I caved and bought a dd miata). I feel like I'm at the point now where I'm willing to sacrifice speed for reliability.

I'm thinking about switching over to an NA setup.
Reasons:
1. Less heat
2. Less to go wrong
3. No more tuning quandaries
4. No need for premium gas

Someone please talk me out of this. I've been really frustrated.

Don't do it! You'll regret it big and your problems can be overcome with reasonable boost and reliability... trust me! What are your issues?

Yeah, what Shane said. I'm sure there are plenty of cats who can help you out with your issues. And you would be sad with the loss of powa, even for a DD. I cried a little when I sold my MP3 ECU and that's only 2-3whp.

A good tune, not having a heavy foot and good assembly should result in a reliable boosted DD.

work out whatever the issues are and keep on boosting. Don't take off the goodies, because as stated above, you will regret it. Plus, you have a built motor, don't let it go to waste

Don't do it.. .If you have all your issues worked out and runnign a reasonable boost level you should be golden. Just run low boost for a DD setup and you shoudl be good to go.

Occasionally runs hot - I've replaced the radiator, new slimline fans, thermostat, cap, etc. (waterpump was done 2 yrs ago)
Hesitation - When in closed loop (not up to temp) it runs great. But as soon as it's up to temp, it runs horribly in boost. (maf maybe? WG is good. No vacuum leaks. I know I have a strong map/tune because it's worked great in identical conditions)
It just seems too hot, and in too small of space.. After I did my build It was great for 2 years!! My msp has 90,000 miles now, it's tired i guess. idk...

I've been running 8psi on street. 11-14 on track. I'm not much of a lead-foot anymore (at my old age of 25 hahah).

Pretty sure. I've also wired them to both to the main relay. So the both come on when up to temp..

Why dont you get an external relay so the fans come on earlier? Also have you tried water wetter from redline?

Let me explain what hot is! 30psi when it's 108*
I blew a heater hose, an upper samco silicone rad hose, a lower silicone rad hose, a turbo coolant line 2x all this summer.

But for some reason I replaced my High pressure radiator cap with the lower cap and most of my problems vanished. Of course hitting full boost and sitting in traffic directly afterwards is going to be a problem. I have a 12" and 10" spal fan that are going to have a fan shroud very soon that will also help keep the air channeled where it needs to be. Along with heatwrapping my 3" dp back to my cutout and having a cai in my situation help alot.

Also even the slightest vac/boost leak will cause major problems in hotter weather. Also may want to run some seafoam through the tank and intake to be sure those injectors aren't part of the problem? Also helps track down vac and exh leaks. Also what plugs are you runnning and how much boost??

Oh, sidenote/short story: I was in boost the other day and blew my hot pipe (Tbolt clamp wasn't tight enough). With my boost just spilling off into the atmosphere, my ride felt nice, no hesitation, just a smooth consistent ride.. It would probably still be faster than my miata...

30psi! you make me proud! I wish you were closer to GA so you could check it out. I've spent so much time and money on my MSP...

Relocated maf to the cold pipe? Blowing pipes can be remedied by putting a little hairspray on the connection first. I still have a few worm clamps holding 30psi without a bead on the pipe for several years now

that's a good question. Recently I've been hearing some noise from the bottom end. I guess one of the reasons I'm giving up is because I feel like I wont blow it up as fast if I baby it.
