My TTD build thread

I'm still using the stock radiator. I never worried about it because the intercooler is heatsoaked before the engine gets to high temps so for time trials it is good enough. I will look at a larger one when I go wheel to wheel in a couple years.

I put these in the picture thread, but figured it would be good to put them here too.

Hey Bill, if you or Marlon want some plastic for your MSP's I have a stash here at the shop. For interior bits and what not. I have 1/4" and 1/8" think but about 3' x 4' in black and grey. Just figured I'd offer.

Pics and video are awesome, man!

Glad you saw that post too, Marlon. Turns out we also have different colors, like white, yellow, red, blue, black, grey and of course clear. Just let me know the dimensions and colors you guys want and I'll cut them out. I can snap some pics so you know what I'm talking about better too.

I snagged some for when I delete my stereo to fill the hole with. That kind of application. I don't think it's suitable for exterior applications like fins and air diversion plates. But I haven't worked with it very much.

Can you make a cowl-cover for an NA miata? That'd be pretty sweet :D

Bill, did you have your shocks re-valved on your coilovers when you went to stiffer springs?

No. I know I'm on borrowed time with my rear struts. I have a second set of the rear inserts that I will have revalved before next year.

ahh yes, didint even think about the w2w part. I guess in the race part (later in the day/heat) I am struggling for position usually right behind some porsche. I just hate to spend $600+ on a radiator with no feed back. s***.

pics look great man! loving that cold air through the headlight thing!!

Hey what spring rates are you using and tire PSI if you dont mind me asking? I just started using the hankooks and they are super super sticky but the inside of the first DOT line is wearing right off to the cords almost after two races. chec the pick and please tell me what you think!

That is some strange wear. What are your alignment settings?
I don't have a clue what Hankooks want for pressure. With the Hoosier R6 I start a session around 28 PSI when warm. With A6 I drop that to around 25. It makes them wear faster, but also makes the tires faster. I am at 500 Front, 850 rear. With stock MSP front bar and AWR adjustable rear bar.

front is still stock so 1/8 toe out and -1deg camber, the rear is 1/8 toe in and like as much as those cam bolts will give me for camber. I'm running the ground control springs so I think I remember them being like 400 front and rear. I am also running the same sway bars you have front and rear. but to get even temps across the tire I have un safe high pressures.
car handles great but any carousel I am loosing massive time as everyone just flys by me.

Thanks for the input man!!!!

Those settings sound like push city to me. I usually have around -3 to -3.5 camber front, -1 camber rear, 0 to 1/16 toe out front and rear. Especially with your soft rear springrates you want some toe out and less camber. That way the car will rotate. It is scary, but that is how to get a front wheel drive car fast. I think if you correct your suspension shortcomings, the tire wear will get better. You NEED more front camber either way though. Don't worry about getting temps even if you don't have enough camber, because even temps are only useful to set pressure if you are close on the camber (I actually use the tire temps inside and outside to set my camber rather than a set angle). You will need to run hotter on the outside with only -1 front.

awesome man! Thanks for the help! I will go get me some camber plates now, and set the rest. I can't wait to try this stuff out! I don't think I can swing the springs just yet so maybe in the off season. Every little thing I am doing is only making the car faster and faster. Its nice not to have the people in my own class lap me! But thank you so much, I cant find to many people that are actually racing this car!

Just wanna say congrats to Bill for his accomplishment this weekend!

Oh... Bill, did you happen to check out that early 3rd gen Protege that was running this weekend. It was a darker blue color? I didn't see what class it was running in.

No problem, iracemine. Keep me posted on your improvements!

Thanks Phen. Yeah, I talked to him for a while. He was running in PTF. I'm pretty sure he was 2nd in the race.
