Tranny mount failed - clutch and flywheel both broke

So today after going through the toll booth I floored it in 2nd gear and the bolt that went through the TRZ tranny mount to the engine went through the metal washer like piece of the tranny mount. Car thumped and banged so I got off at the next exit and pulled into the parking lot. Could feel that the bolt wasn't all the way connected to the tranny, but decided to try and drive the car home. Well after about 2 miles something else broke and the tranny mount got disconnected from the tranny and the car wouldn't go any further. Pulled off onto this nice dirt road in the shade and got to the tranny mount and sure enough the bolt that goes through the tranny mount was still connected to the tranny but it had went through the middle of the tranny mount. Oil/grease was all over the left front suspension area. Put the stock mount back on, started it, but the car wouldn't go anywhere. The dealer called yesterday and said the clutch and flywheel needed to be replaced and that both these broke due to excessive hard use, and wanted $2500 to fix both...I believe my dad asked them if the tranny mount could have caused this and they said no (I put the stock tranny mount back on so it appeared like there was no problem with the tranny mount). I don't agree with them so I'm having it towed to an independent shop who said he would fix it both the clutch and flywheel for $2000 if that's the problem, or I could pay $800 for him to install my own parts.

i got some body can do it for cheaper price, but hes located in frederick md, pm me if u interest!

DPS tuning, personal friend of mine owns it and another friend is also working there. Big in the Subaru and Evo and Euro scene. dpstuning.com located in gaithersburg, worth your time however. Talk to Brian or Pirouz (owner) Tell Brian that Jose Cruz sent you.

Well I'm almost positive the mount that I bought did not have the bushing in the mount for whatever reason. It was sold as new, so I'm not sure what's up with that.

well part of the excessive cost in the tranny work clutch and flywheel is the labor for the work. Mazda estimates 8.2 hours for the job. Also the dealership is pricing out the replacement for the flywheel which for the mazdaspeed is a dual mass flywheel and it cost about 1k retail or if you look around, some for 800.

Your best bet is to go with a fidenza flywheel which will fit an oem clutch kit, its a lightened single mass flywheel. Usaly go for 350, but can be had for less.

Did they say your tranny is busted? or they say that the reason you cant move your car is because the clutch and flywheel are toast?

Great info on the Fidanza flywheel. Wonder why they can't simply resurface it? If it's not busted or cracked, I don't see the need to replace it. Is this a common thing to do with the MS3 when replacing the clutch?
