Yoko Parada......Hype? Also how much $$$

Only Kidding about the "hype". I can't believe the difference these tires made. Really transformed the rig.

Curious what people paid for a set compared to what the dealer wanted for the OEM's.

The Bridgestone Duellers definitely list for more than the Paradas so people should be saving about $200 for a set I'd imagine. I like the Duellers just fine but I doubt I would ever pay that much extra given the good experience people have had with the Paradas once the Duellers wear out.

Finally pulled the trigger on the Yoko Spec-X's. Looking forward to see how much better they are than the Bridgestone.

May I ask how much did they cost you? (Yokahama Spec-X's)

$672 for all 4. not including shipping from TireRack. Shipping from CT to MA was $60 for UPS ground. I ordered Friday at 2pm and they'll be delivered on Monday.

Add one more advantage with Parada Spec-X.
The tread design of Parada greatly reduces seam-following on highways.

More and wider center channels cause seam-following (such as the Duelers).

Got the Yokos installed today. Difficult to know if they sound better than the Dueler's since I've been running on my Blizzaks for the last 5 months.

On a sepate note....

I'm about to hit 50k miles soon. Anyone noticing that bumps seem to be harder on the car? Seems like ths shocks have lost their absorbtion capability....

Tirerack.com has got the best priced Pirrelli Scorpion STR's for my 2007 CX-9 tires--about $100 each including shipped to me + mounting, balancing and disposal fees... these tires have lasted over 35,000 miles on the rear and a bit less on the front--I don't rotate as much as indicated because my front tires wear much faster than the rears... but that's just my experience

Really??
I just went to the Tirerack site and I don't see where you would have been able to buy those tires for your 9 for less than $200 each, before shipping. Maybe you downsized to a 15 wheel??
If you really paid that much (well, ...that little, God bless you, you got them at a great price) but after looking at the Surveys and Reviews, there are lots of better choices out there.

Next time when such a great deal is available, please tell all of us here.
I might actually stock up a set of four Prrelli STRs.

Just went to Mavis in Great Neck yesterday. They matched tire rack price of $174. With mounting/balancing they gave me $195/tire. Albert is the manager and a great guy. Alignment was only $79. I went up to 255/50R20 as suggested around this forum. Can honestly say, that it feels like i was driving around on square Duellers/wheels. I thank this forum for giving me the info.

NOTE: Now i want new rims, but as Charlie (Mavis's tire tech) mentioned, I should tell the wife to stop parking on top of curbs. Rash on the rims is worse than than that time I went to Tiajuana : )

I have had Yoko Envigors on since the end of November and they have been awesome. snow traction was great and road noise is very minimal.

Hey bopphead, I got lucky last year and caught the dealorship doing a "Buy 3 get the 4th.free" promo.! The cost came to just under $420.00. Not bad and the tires are fantastic!

After 3 weeks of driving the Yoko's I have to say I am very pleased. Tractions seems excellent in dry and wet conditions. But most of all, she's a real quiet ride now going down the highway. I think it took about a week for the tires to break in because it definately got quieter....maybe it's all in my head.

Also the dealer filled them with Nitrogen which I'll have them top off when I'm in for service on mine, or my wife's CX-7.

Just had Yoko Parada Spec-X's installed last week and to my surprise they feel smoother than the 17" winter tires I've been driving for the past 5 months (and the 17" winter tires are more comfortable than the stock 20" Bridgestones). The Bridgestones also had a lot of weather checking/cracking all around the circumfrence and in grooves between the tread blocks, which I feel is premature aging on 4 year old tires. Anyone else notice this on the Dullers?

There is also a Yokohama Canada rebate through the end on May that saves $100 on a set of 4 in the 20" size for Canadian customers. There may be a similar rebate for the US, just google "Yokohama rebate"

Question, do the rims still use the rubber valve stems. I was looking at the wheels of my 9 and they don't look like they use the rubber valve stems. I am soon going to be replacing the tires and want to make sure that they don't try to charge me for something i don't need. Also are the valve stems part of the tps system or are they separate?

I notice that the Parada has a treadwear rating of 420 while the Avid Envigor is 560, which indicates to me that while the Avid's might last a bit longer, the Parada "should" be a little bit softer and have a little bit more grip in slippery conditions. Anyone drive both?

The valve stems are connected to the TPMS system unit. Make sure they don't rip them out as that will destroy the TMPS sensor all together. On the TMPS they remove the pin in the valve to deflate the tire.

I just ordered 2 255/50/20 for my CX9; Yoko Prada. I wanted a slightly wider tire so the tire isn't to much inside the wheel well. I hope the 255 will do the trick and not adjust my fuel consumption by much if any. I ordered thru a local Discount Tire and they do charge a TPMS rebuild kit per wheel. I think that is common, but somebody chime in if not. I believe it is about $15/wheel.

I think 4 year old tires should show some signs of aging, weather checking and cracking. I run winter and summer tires on my 3 series and consider it lucky when I can get 3 seasons on either set.
