I'll share my experience...
A long time ago I sanded the crap out of my front emblem, applied about 4 coats of just regular black spray paint, let that dry fully, and then applied about 4 regular coats of clear coat. It looked great, and held up for the most of it. Came out glossy black (not overly glossy so that it looks wet, just shiny), which is what I wanted and it looked great with my car.
After I went through 2 winters, it started to give out. When the salt stuck to it, and I took it to the coin op I guess when I was pressure washing the car, some of the paint came off with the salt!
I just re-did my front emblem a little while ago with plasti-dip. No sanding required, I sprayed right over on top of the chipping paint. Stuff holds out much better, it's kinda like spray on rubber lol. It dryed very quick too. Unfortunetly, I find that plasti-dip comes out flat and not glossy. I even got plasti dip clear coat and it was still flat. Looks OK on my car since its black, but the front emblem really stands out now thats it's flat black and the rest of the car is black mica.
I think plasti dip would be A+ for your car kid5.
EDIT: I need some feedback for the DP I might buy lol:
