What have you done to your P5 today?

Just on a whim while pushing my car into the garage yesterday i fired her up and man did she sound bad. but the fact that she started right up and ran (only had the car on for a few seconds) tells me that this maybe another issue. I'm thinking head gasket since she did dump all her oil on the road. anything else to look at for consideration before i start ripping the motor apart?

Bought some JL TR650CSi's for $90 on sale. Gonna install them tomorrow and mount the tweeters in the door panels about 1.5" up and over from the door handle. Also picked up a Focal Solid4 and Focal Solid1 from a friend for the low price of $300 and my old Sony 4ch amp.

Here's a doozy of a wiring issue - I installed several LEDs over the past little while because I was craving some rice (door pockets, floor lights, console cubby under HVAC, etc). Anyhow, I tapped into my radio constant 12v to power all of my switched LEDs and I tapped into the radio ACC wire for my cupholder lights (so the come on white with the car on and turn blue when I flip my LED switch). Here's my issue - When I turn on my switched LEDs (radio constant) my passenger door power mirror starts going down and clicking as though I'm holding the down switch. When I press the power mirror up button, no matter what mirror is selected on the switch, the mirror stops going down, but it turns on my radio. Anyone have any ideas? When I press the mirror switch and the LEDs arent on, the radio doesnt turn on. All of this is when the car is off btw, havent checked while its on.

Worst case scenario, is there a power mirror fuse I can just pull and deal with it later? I couldn't seem to find one.

You must have crossed a circuit somewhere. Are all of the lights connected to the same ACC power point or are they just slapped in there where ever you could find space?

troubleshot some wiring issues.
installed some foglamp covers

this is my prototype, made of coroplast with expanding foam backing (which didnt work quite as well as I was hoping...) within the next few weeks, I'll be shaping some lexan to replace the coroplast, also giving the shape a little more "character" that matches the lines of the mp5's front end better :)

3m 35% tint(the darkest legal % on front windows allowed in N.D.)
The sticker from my avatar that I picked up in Shanghai in April. Basically it says "only fuel higher than 93 octane". It's ironic because we can't buy anything over 93 at our local pumps.

Attemped to pull my rear calipers. Got stuck/stumped at the point of getting the parking brake cable off. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Yes it maybe a newb question but I am no mechanic, ne help would be appricated.

Ok... There are a couple things that can hold you up with the parking brake cable...

1) The clip holding the cable further up. Pop that off, and you'll have a little more play in the cable.
2) You can try this, but I never had to. The allen head bolt that is used to adjust the piston for the caliper... you can loosen that and get some more play out of the ebrake spring.

I took the clip off/out I still couldnt get much play on the cable I made sure the e-brake was off.

It can be a royal pain in the ass. Did you try the other side first? I usually can push the part where the ebrake cable attaches, and wiggle the cable out of place by spinning the end 90 degrees. All depends on what shape your calipers are in.

I didnt try the other side as yet, it was a PITA to get the wheel off let alone the caliper apart on just that side. I should try it again this afternoon. The hook part I could move about an inch or less back I was tryna get creative with it however I didnt wanna fubar n e thing.

Yeah, I'd say to try to keep working with moving the hook, if the cables are already disconnected from that pain in the ass clip. They can be difficult, for sure. Another thing is backing off the piston like I said. IIRC, it gives a little more slack with the e-brake.

What AFR's are you guys running while cruising on the highway around 70mph?

On the drive to work I got passed by a guy driving a Z3. I saw him coming in my side mirror and thought it odd that he didn't zip by as there was no traffic in the fast lane. I glanced over and he gave me a smile and a nod and proceeded on his way. :)

I was also asked last night if I had bought a new car when picking my daughter up at a friends. I hesitated and said no and she said 'oh, it looks new'. :)

Evan, I ran 14.7 on the P5 when it was turboed while I was on the highway. Only time it ever changed was when I went into boost. And of course when I let off the gas.
