Sway Bar Relocation Bracket

Those are called shaft collars. I doubt they are available at Lowes or Home Depot, at least in 20mm.

Here is one manufacturer's website, find the part number for the material you want then Google the part number. Note the steel (black oxide finish) is the least expensive but it does rust.

The Racing Beat rear sway bar is 20mm. A general hardware store like Ace is not likely to carry those in metric, of course it never hurts to check with them. A 3/4" shaft collar is equal to 19mm (25.4mm = 1") so the next size up will be a 7/8" which is an odd ball size. Do a quick Google search for a 20mm or 7/8" (.875") dual split shaft collar and you will see these are not very common sizes and if you wanted those in stainless or aluminum they are very rare.

There is another alternative, move the existing rubber stops.

hi guys, would anybody who build them tell me the total height of the largest piece?? it's the only thing missing on the drawings...or if some dimensions were updated or somebody's got modifications to the design I would like to know... I'm definately going to build myself a set next week...good job wildo!!!
thanks!

Just saying the only difference between the msp and the mp3 is the turbo and ecu so its not all mp3 stuff its more than likely all mp3 stuff just so you know but great write up makes me want to make some now

Amazingly, I actually still have this template laying around. The height of the piece is 5 1/8"

nice! thanks! by the way I was doing calculations to try to find out since I was too lazy to get under the car tonight but that'll save some time!

Thanks to you Wildo I now and finally have a RB swaybar on my P5! I've been looking forward to this for long but never found a bar for a cheap price until a couple of weeks ago... I made the brackets this week and thanks to your blueprints it's fits perfectly! now I just need some stoppers like yours but here's how it looks like, don't mind the ugly weld on this one!

Wow- very cool! Glad someone else had the guts (and tools) to give it a shot. Looks good! And yes- looks like your endlinks are way too short.

I'd say it depends on your welding skills but like 5 or 6/10... the only thing you got to make sure it that you cut the pieces right, drill the holes at the right lenght, and weld the pieces at the good angle, if you take your time and think about how you'll weld the pieces together, it's a piece of cake in my opinion! good luck!

Idk how to weld and my brother can but not the greatest I have a really nice drill press that doesn't get used much and a grinder and a jigsaw so making them shouldn't be horrible how thick was the steel you used?

Yeah I kept my P5 endlinks that's a mistake I'll need some 10.5'' right?

I don't know about that. I just made my own out of 3/8" x 24 threaded rod and this ball joint from McMaster-Carr: Item 4483T24. Just do your own measurements so the bar is flat while the car is neutral. For what it's worth, I had an AWR endlink set on the front and they literally pulled apart. The DIY endlinks on the rear are holding up just fine as are my new DIY front endlinks out of the same materials. Do it yourself, save s*** tons of money, and be proud of your work.

You're totally right Wildo and DIY is what I'm all about! Thanks for the item number! Rust is everywhere on cars here so AWR have never been a solution for me. Always put the cheapest jobber links and they last longer than OEM anyways. Where did you order Mcmaster for a couple of balljoints? think I'll go to general bearing as I was going to look for the bushig stoppers there anyway...

tweety: use that drill! and ask your brother! nice cheap project
