Extended Wheel Studs for Protege

Hey everybody,

I've done some digging around the site but I've only found contradicting information regarding the size of stud that will fit the Protege.

For example, some have said that the Honda studs will fit, while others have said they are too narrow.

The most convincing argument I've found so far is that the Miata studs will fit the Protege. The only thing is that you have to swap the front and rear studs when using them on the Protege (i.e miata front on protege rear).

I know the thread size is M12x1.5 but it's the knurl diameter that is giving me a headache.

From what I've been able to gather, the knurl diameters for the Protege are:
Front: 0.588"
Rear: 0.515"

Whereas the Miata knurl diameters are:
Front: 0.507"
Rear: 0.579"

If anyone running extended studs can please chime-in and help me out, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

I'm moving up to 225/45 15 NT01s for auto-x and I need these longer studs to go with my spacers.

PLEASE HELP!
Thanks!

I've done quite a bit of searching on this, looking to do the same thing. ARP makes a 2.5" and a 3.5" camaro stud with a .509 knurl.
Now I haven't tried it, but I'm told they will squeeze in no problem.. And it gives you an extra 1" from stock

Edit: I thought protege knurl was .506...

Check your year of protege. There's a chance that it may have changed over the years and between 2 wheel disc and 4 wheel disc.
I'll let you guys know how these bolts turn out :)

.509 Camaro ARP extended stud's thats what I'm rocking on my p5 got them on with no problems.

I've heard those work but I'm a pessimist. Also, being a manufacturing engineer, I get a little nervous when I see 20-80 thou differences in measurements for something that's supposed to be a press fit.
I ended up getting custom made bolts to the OEM 99 Mazda knurl diameter spec for the same price as the ARP studs for the miata/camaro. :)

I should have then in about 2 weeks.
