yeah if u mean turbo the FS, then sure u can do it for the price the Kl swap cost, but then u are at about the same amount of power, and the KL being more reliable at that power, and gives you more torque, and also it leaves the door open for boost and power than only fully built FS motors can reach.

Have you sat in one for the Protege? Plus it sounds wicked.

I also have the on/off capability. So daily driving is still 28-30 mpgs.

I drive Sc'ed mini coopers and the new turbo mini coopers every day. The turbo ones feel way faster by far, even though the specs are pretty close

Well I won't get into the "boosted FS-DE vs. KL" debate. Personally, I have nothing but good things to say about my FS-DE. It dynoed 115whp on a Mustang dyno with bolt-ons, didn't burn oil and I never had a problem with it for the 3 years I was running it, and it had 132k miles on before it went into it's new home in Josh's P5. Though I understand other members motors burn oil and have a short life.

I swapped the motor simply because I love my P5 chassis and have a lot of money into it and my FS was getting up there in mileage so instead of buying a new car, I simply wanted to swap in the KL because I'm an N/A kind of cat. Boosting an FS-DE seems like it causes reliability issues with a lot of members. And honestly, I don't know jack s*** about turbo's or superchargers. I wanted something reliable with a little more power that I could bolt in so I bought a KL. I didn't do it for bragging rights, to impress anyone or play the "big dick" game. My car is still slow and I still need to work on my drivers mod. It is a very fun car to drive and I don't regret the KL swap at all, but I'm not one who would bash a boosted or turbo'ed FS-DE. Boost is VERY fun. I drove my roommates modded MSM last weekend and the sounds, surge from the turbo are badass.

And Wes is exaggerating a bit. The swap and coilovers certainly made the car handle better and pull harder but it's still no sports car. It's still a slow wagon.

Pablo, I really haven't had a chance to test the suspension much since all my interior pieces are in the back, the ECU's aren't mounted and my strut bar isn't installed yet. I've got all four corners on 16 right in the middle until I can dial them in better. But the new lower control arms (with bushings), new endlinks and coilovers felt pretty good on the leisurely drive on the way to work this morning. I won't really start flogging it until I get the motor all squared away and everything is bolted back in. Hopefully my oil pressure gauge will be here soon and I can wire that in and put the interior back together then I can enjoy the car more. :)

You're too modest, man. I will admit, I am heavily biased towards the KL, but that quick jog around the block last night was easily one of the most fun experiences I've ever had in a car before. And that's no exaggeration. I truly think you've built the ultimate DD. It's the perfect mix between handling, speed, decent MPG, styling, effing intoxicating exhaust note, and wagon-style hauling ability.

If P5's didn't rust like it was their job, I'd get one and do it just like yours. No homo.

ever consider running a more subtle exhaust? i mean i have heard KL's with raspy exhaust and KL's with understated exhaust and the understated exhaust always sounds amazing. but the raspy exhaust reminds me of the ricey probe gt's at the local scene. just my thoughts.

Well the KL's seem to prefer a straight exhaust for the most powa but I wouldn't be able to live with that in a DD. Right now I'm sure my midpipe is leaking from the exhaust clamp I'm using so I need to figure out a solution to that. Hopefully Josh would be able to just weld them together. Then I'll see how it sounds with the OBX headers, CS header-back exhaust (with their resonator). I still have my old GReddy EVO2 muffler and would love to weld that on instead because that exhaust sounded great, a very low tone. But not sure about getting everything lined up perfectly to weld it in. And honestly, I don't trust people working on my car (like a local muffler shop) so I would prefer Josh weld it since he's great at welding, does a good job and is cheap $. Or else I'll have to take it to Big3 Racing in Lakewood and have them fab it all up for me. I just hate paying money for stuff I can do myself IF I had a welder. Ya know?

And I plugged in my HID's and got a bad ballast. Thankfully it's covered by DDM Tuning. Lifetime warranty FTW. I'm going to overnight that sucker. Hopefully I'll have a new one sometime next week.

******* awesome dude! So happy it's wrapping up. And yes, turboing an fsde is a similar price as a kl swap. the kl swap however is barely at its power potential for that price, while a 115whp fsde is pushing its safe zone, 150 is in the red, and 200+ is actually exploding every time you drive it, you just hope it isn't catastrophic.
