The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Two of my former college roommates drive trucks and I'd hate to park the damn thing as weak as that sounds. It would be nice to have a comfortable tow rig on the other hand :D

Lol, totally agree with both points, there.

I think for only having it one winter losing a couple hundred isn't bad

That's true.

I talked to one of my friends and apparently his dad's old GMC is for sale. I think it's early 90's, 350, 5 speed, reg cab, long bed, which is an extremely rare combo. They had to special order it. It's immaculate underneath from what I remember despite being driven from Ravenna to Cleveland every day for 10+ years. It needs an exhaust, and I think the clutch disk is shattered, or at least fractured, but it's been that way for over 100k miles he said, lol.

Just got in from mowing the lawn. I'm glad our new house has a nice lawn so I don't have to do anything with it, but that was some tall thick crap to go through. I made the mistake of doing it after the gym and now I'm tired. Too bad I'll be up all night finishing a paper that's due tomorrow and studying for my last final which is also tomorrow.

Then a mad dash to see if I can get the car done in time for Putnam!

That's almost a full tank of gas LOL...plus, by doing the Winner card thing, we'd be helping out Mark. He would get a point for each person that signs up for an event. If he gets 8 points, he gets a free track weekend.

nothing against mark, but i think you should be using marlon as your referal source ... isn't he the one talking you guys into doing it? isn't he the one coming to the meets? isn't he the one who organizes most of the big stuff we do on here? when do we see mark? at mid ohio ...

The truck's a GMC, 350, 5 speed, reg cab, long bed, open dif, 2wd, 308k miles. The underside is not as good as I remember, but everything looks solid. No rust holes, except maybe the passenger door. I was in it once (the bed of it, lol), the last time it was run, and it pulled freakin hard for what it's been through, I had no idea it had that many miles. It's got a bed liner, which is cool, since I'll definitely be using that. The biggest negative is the interior should just get ripped out and burned. My friend's dad smoked constantly in it, and it's just a total loss. I guess there was some leaking that got in it, so it looks a bit moldy or something, too. If I got it, I'd just rip out the carpets and spray some rubberized bed liner on the floor, and get a new bench seat and clean all of the plastic with ammonia or something. It'd take some work cleaning, along with putting the exhaust back on, and the air box. He mentioned it might need a head gasket because there's oil on the outside of the engine on one half (driver's side), but said the oil wasn't milky and there wasn't oil in the coolant, so if it's just a small leak I wouldn't be super worried about it. He hadn't considered selling it, so he didn't have a price in mind, but he said 500$ considering the work it needed. As a small project and an opportunity to get a solid truck at a heck of a price from a single owner that I know, I'm going to think about it pretty seriously.

Sounds good to me! Marlon post up your NASA member number :D

I'd do this at work... but I have a feeling that the description may get flagged by IT. LOL.

O ya I definitely agree with using Marlon, we will just need his member ID to put on there :)
I don't even think I know who Mark is! LOL! Isn't there a Marc (with a "C")? At first I didn't know we could use someone else as a referral because I thought NASA sent those with the name and member ID pre-filled. Once I actually researched what the program was and saw that they give them out blank, it made more sense to use Marlon since he's been extremely helpful...and he's the Godfather! So no worries Lauri

Marc, i got your mitty tee. if you want to stop by work to pick it up, or meet somewhere in parma ... not sure when i'll be seeing you again with the racing season on, we'll be out of town every other weekend .... zoom~freakin'~zoom!! let me know ... or i can hold on to it, no worries.

Had my orientation and training videos today. Tomorrow's the first day of work! And I've already planned out how to spend all of the money that I don't have... Ugh, this hobby be expensive!
