2010 Mazdaspeed3
Hey guys... nice to be here. I came over from the "other" mazda forum. Which is full of very rude, ignorant posters and I believe that the site is actually run by a bunch of monkey's to be honest. I am hopeful that this site actually has mods that do their jobs correctly instead of letting people constantly bash each other.

Anyway... I got my 2010 MS3 about 3 or so months ago after coming from a 2008 Evo X. It was a fun car, but my fiance had an 09 MS3 and I found myself actually enjoying driving her car more than my own. The interior on the car is so much nicer as well as the paint and some of the other stuff that seems unimportant until you have to drive the car everyday. I got 29 mpg average with the paper and pen method (speed limits here are still 55 which likely helped) my best in my X was 23 as well.

I currently have a K&N SRI and a Cobb stage 1 map i'm using... the car is very quick from a roll... i'd like to get a bit more power out of it, perhaps an exhaust at some point, but for right now it's an excellent everyday car and a lot of fun.

Just thought i'd throw all that in. Look forward to being here.

Welcome to the forums, glad to hear you're enjoying your MS3!

You should consider a downpipe if the emissions regulations in MD will allow it (requires removing a cat.) - that will free up about 20hp for about $300.

right now i'm just trying to save a bit of money and buy some mods here and there... nothing to drastic like I had with my Evo. The fuel pump is my biggest concern when it comes to mods to be honest.

Welcome!! just a quick question about your experience, could you elaborate a bit on the not enjoying driving an EVO part??, Id really like to hear about it since its been one of my favorite cars for the past 8-10 years... 2 bad its due to be killed, wouldve liked to own one at some point...

The MS3, from a roll, is very quick as you said, not a big fan of the torque steer but still love it! just clocked in 17,000 KM last night...

I'll rephrase... it's not that I didn't enjoy driving the Evo... but it's cheap... the interior is just plain cheap and sad. The MS3's is like a Lincoln in comparison. I had done a lot of mods to the car... had about 380 whp which was fun... but I had put a short shifter in the car and it wound up being extremely difficult to shift. The MS3 rides better... though I have owned an Evo IX and an X and the X was MUCH improved... it still just didn't ride as well. The handling was incredible and it responded to mods like no other car i've ever had... I mean it was fast don't get me wrong... but the paint is SOOOOOOOOOO cheap, the warranty you never know about, the clutch is pretty weak (and I don't launch my car). Obviously the very massive aftermarket made the car easy to find parts for so that was always nice when you really wanted to look around at different brands of parts.

Overall... is it worth the 31k OTD I paid for mine? No, not at all... you pay for the brakes and drivetrain, but for a 30k car I expected a whole lot more.

Wow, too bad for Mitsu, didn know about all those things... the interior was always a downside on any EVO but it just didnt look as though it had that many issues, always a fan favorite so everyone is just marveled at it... guess you never know right??

Anyways, enjoy your new MS3! according to what Ive been reading, and as you kind of implied, fuel pump should be your next mod, go for it, then look for more power...

Cheers! ...and post some pics of your car!
