The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Guess who's got 2 thumbs and is picking up a turbo p5 this weekend....

My wife! And me as well...lol Pulling the trigger on that one in TN. Hopefully it's as clean in person as it is in the pics!

Looks great man! I like it better than the green :)

Well, well, well. Look who pops in to say hello. What's up, V? Haven't seen you around in a long time, man.

I'll even leave my spot open in the garage for ya, buddy. And double dibs on that cf spoiler. Haha! I want to see her in person. Best of luck on the drive down and back, be safe.

Haha well hello there. Nothing new here, I just hate winter, which is why you haven't seen me around much :) :). What have you all been up to? I hope there's some events coming up, I miss hanging out with you guys.

Thanks! I don't know that I'll be tearing into it before next weekend, as much as I'd like to. I'm hosting that Trailblazer/Envoy mod meet, and I don't want it all torn apart with parts everywhere. You guys are more than welcome to stop by anytime though and check it out. I know I'll have the motor coming on monday...haha

So what are the plans...Part out and replace/repair the motor? Or rebuilding and keeping the turbo?

Option 1. It would be cool to have a turbo p5, but right now, I just want/need a reliable DD that I don't have to tinker with or worry about. lol

I just hope the parts sell quickly. I see threads all over for turbo stuff, but alot of them seem to stall out?

Noted!

Actually, I saw on CL that there was a guy in Canal Winchester that was parting out a p5, but that was over a month ago. I'll be needing some stock interior pieces for this thing...

That P5 looks great, can't even see any rust in the fender well. Man, after the bbq, I'm more excited about the FS-T's, but I dunno that I'd want one myself.

James, did you paint the wheels, or did you photoshop it? I can't even tell.. Sometimes I are baffled by the technologies.

I picked up a retaining ring, or snap ring pliers today and was able to get the snap ring over the ball joint so I won't have to get it welded. I think everything's wrapped up now, the new brake line bled easily, and didn't leak at all, so I was pretty thrilled about that. I'll be taking a test drive in a bit, albeit very carefully, lol.

The bbq, plus all of this work on my own car has gotten me back in the car modding mindset. I'm not sure if that's good or bad yet..

Hmm, I only made it down the street in the test drive because it was making a dragging metal noise, which got louder with speed, but was still present with it out of gear. I think it was the brake dragging because it was pretty tight, and took a tiny bit of force to get the caliper and pads over the rotor after I bled the system. I mean the brakes don't really retract a whole lot, they just kind of sit right next to the rotor, at least that's how I understand the system. I'll try it again tomorrow without worrying about waking up my neighbors. If it was just the brake dragging, I would take it up to speed and let it wear off the rust, but at this point I don't have the confidence that it's not a different problem...
