The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I dunno, from what I've heard, they don't wear out as fast as people say, as long as the toe is set correctly. Supposedly if you have normal toe, and even a lot of camber, the tires will wear close to normal. Obviously not exactly as long, but again, I'm not speaking from experience.

And tonight, I will try my hand at bending brake line!

Exactly. Hell, look at the back of my Bavaria. They all have excessive negative camber in the rear, just because of how the suspension is set up. It's common for old German cars to do that. The tires that are on the rear have been on the car for probably 25k or so. No abnormal wear anywhere. Toe is the devil. Camber... can hurt you in other ways, but tire wear doesn't really play a part.

I just want to clarify when I feel like "starting s*** in the slammed thread" it's all in good fun. My general outlook on life is "I don't care what you do as long as it doesn't affect me in a negative way" and that applies to cars as well. Those guys can do whatever they want to their cars but I agree with what was said in that if I ever saw one of those 3's on the road near me I'd get the hell away from them. I've had too many normal cars break, blow up, slide on ice, or whatever in front of me so God knows what would happen to someone who has intentionally screwed up their steering/suspension geometry in adverse conditions. But wait, they live in CA so there's no such thing as adverse conditions, right?

The ONLY time I get annoyed is when they continue to comment on how "hard" a car is or how someone is "killing it" when all they can do is hard park, and there is no effort in that, just money and time. Sorry, but it takes balls and skill to go 120+ mi/hr into the esses at Mid-Ohio in a street car, not driving around city streets in a slammed car. Also notice that any of those guys (including dub) having experience some sort of performance enlightenment (be it severely increased power due to turbocharging, etc. or a autocross or other track event) they immediately start to reconsider their slammed/hellaflush "lifestyle".

Sorry, just wanted that off my chest.

I get on Dub especially when it comes to that. Sumthaiguy has all kinds of crap done to his MS3 in order to drive 25 mph....

Glad to see everyone is getting alone today. Just can't wait until it gets a little warmer. This weekend is suppose to be alot warmer, but with a chance of rain. Next week looks really nice though. The weather channel is probably way off like always though. Most likely it will be mid 40's with rain and freezing rain or snow at night. Yeah I live in Ohio! FAIL.

I didn't see this yesterday, Marlon. Doh! Send me a text when you're on your way over, brotha.

Tires done, heatshield mayybe tomorrow. I had some skin tags removed today and they had to cauterize the areas..may not be up to it today.

I've been debating something for a while and I'm curious what you all think. I have all these stickers from parts/manufacturers I've bought for the RX-7 (Hawk Pads, Stance Coilovers, Corksport, etc.). With the Protege5 I was strongly against any "advertising" on the car, but with the RX-7 and its dull, faded paint and me getting more and more into tracking the car I've been tempted. I also have a couple stickers from NASA and Mazda ("Mazdaspeed" and "Zoom Zoom"). What think you all?

You did get a solid look at the RX-7, right?

I want a "hellafunctional" sticker...

Haha. It's not that bad. Faded in places, sure, it's a red car. You'll have that.

Are you talking on the paint stickers, or on glass that doesn't need to be seen thru stickers?

I just blew my nose and my boogers are graphite colored...

Isn't that fun? When I worked at the blast furnace one summer, it took 3 months to blow all the black s*** out of my nose.

I have a windshield, two door windows and the hatch - all my windows are "glass-that-needs-to-be-seen-through", LOL! I was thinking of doing the angled roll call on the windshield... No seriously, I hadn't really thought of where I'd put them. The only one I'd given any thought was the NASA sticker, which I figured would go on the rear bumper or high on the rear window as to not obstruct view. After I do the brakes and wash the car I'll go take inventory of what all I have.

I dig the NASA sticker. I forgot about the window count on there. Hahaha. I'm not thinking straight right now. Too much work stress.
