Still torn between giving the AEM F/IC a try, or throwing up the money and going Haltech...
I just spent over $1,500 with Sam a few weeks back, lol, he owes me a hook up.
Haltech. After everything I've tried, and the money I've wasted going from one EMS to another, trust me. It is a big hit to take initially, but you will be happier in the long run. I think c r o s s o v e r said they'd sell me a Platinum 2k with the AEM jumper harness, pre-wired, ready to plug in for less than 2k. So you might want to try giving them a shout.
I am edging more and more into standalone territory since I've tried both the SSAFC and the FIC now, and I am just not satisfied with either of them. I definitely would get an extension harness if I go standalone and having someone prewire it for me would be great. My only concern is that they aren't programmed for CEL's, correct? So what happens if one pops up? Does it still illuminate on the dash? Also wondering about state inspection laws. Would swapping out the Haltech for the ECU just until emissions is done work? I would imagine the car would run bad but should idle okay.
The standalone would throw cels. You have to have tons of drive cycles on the stock ecu to pass emissions (I think its more than 80). So even if you clear the cel, you would still have to have the drive sysles to pass. There was some discussions about this somewhere.
Edit: The Haltech is super easy to wire. And if you get the E6X, I can send you some base maps to get started. If you get the Sprint 1000, I know someone that will share their base map. Dive in man, theres plenty of support!
Picked up 3quarts of gm syncromesh and some oil to change the oil and tranny fluid. Should be good. And hopefully yanking a power steering pump out of a car at a local pull a part
I believe I used about 5 quarts of gear oil when I changed it a couple months ago.
oh and I got my medieval trans and rear mounts installed! Vibration is definitely noticeable now, but damn does it shift smooth. Once I get my replacement turbo from 2.0t03speed my msp will be ready for more powa.
