What have you done to your MSP today?

Okay, question:

I have a loud "whistle" coming from under the hood. I need to investigate it further, but it's a fluttering whistle, only when the car is under boost. It used to only be when it was cold outside and the car was cold, but now (in Florida) it sticks around for a while, even after my water temp has come all the way up. I don't smell any strong exhaust, but I'm guessing its a gasket around the turbo or something along those lines. Any ideas?

I have been experiencing this lately as well. I am thinking it is either the turbo about to die, or possibly a leak somewhere.

Wow, busy day for me and my MSP. Finished up the J&S install, fine tuned on the Microtech, upped the boost, got the J&S dialed in, and tuned the methanol a bit.

Whistle could be your WGA.

Replaced that about 18 months ago. Never heard the WGA whistle before it died before...

or it could be your turbine blades starting to scrape against the housing lol

Heard that one before, don't think its it...

Yeah, I think I narrowed it down to a leak on the right side of the exhaust manifold gasket. My guess is when they replaced the broken stud over there, they didn't replace the gasket like they were supposed to. Now it doesn't fit correctly and is getting worse with age...

Yea I noticed what looks like carbon buildup at the runner closest to the drivers side so I'm thinking I have a leak.

I had a leak on my manifold because i was missing a bolt, and it didnt make a whistling sound at all...I would check the manifold for cracks, or double check the to make sure the turbine blades arent contacting anywhere.

degreased and sanded my IC pipes and CAI pipes to repaint... hopefully tomorrow i get the new intake mani and cylinder head installed.

Today was a big day for my MSP & Me...

Replaced the timing belt, water pump, and tensioner/idler.
Fabbed up my intercooler piping and installed it.
Removed my factory turbo and replaced the busted WGA. Replaced broken and missing manifold studs with ARP Fastners.
Replaced both radiator hoses.
All thats left is wire in my F/IC, AEM Uego wideband, and do my clutch and flywheel.

Oddly... I'm still having an overboosting concern. I'm using the ATP Wastegate actuator and 2.5" i/c piping. Its spiking up to 10 - 12psi, and blowing the throttle body coupler off.
Part of it may be the configuration of the vac lines, as the previous owner ****** with em', so I'll post a pic later and get soe 2nd opinions.

But other than the worn out WGA, what else has anyone seen on the MSP causing overboosting issues?

attached the recirculating fitting on my bov and attached the bov to the pipe, read the turbo timer instructions sort of, they are in japanese but the pictures make sense I think.

I am trying to switch to a recirc setup once again. What kind of hose did you use and where did you find it? Also I'm looking for a pipe to weld onto my intake.

haven't got that far yet, just doing some little things while watching basketball tournys. I'm looking at summit right now for a hose big enough for the greddy but no luck yet

Sea foam? WTF? Don't you ever insult our color like that again!!! (smash)(smash)(rofl2)(rofl2) Only have that one for now. Will take more in few weeks when new rims are on...
