The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

just found the moderatly low and functional thread, where has that been hiding?

Looks good chris!

Got my new horns in the mail. PIAA dual horns 500hz & 600hz, Now my car won't sound weak and girly

EVAN #1!!!!

Might have saw Tessa today on the road--almost texted you to find out but thought that may be a little too creepy since it wasn't a confirmed sighting, haha!
She was heading East on 76 (going towards Akron) right at Route 94 in Wadsworth. I had just gotten on 76 going West towards home from 261--I saw a silver TT on the other side of the road. There couldn't be that many TTs out this time of year, and I know in between 261 and 94 was where she had spotted me before....

Well that kinda sucks, I figured with my car a front and read upgrade would keep the car feeling the same just with less roll. Now I am a bit concerned that if I don't do springs at the same time she is gonna drive like crap.

I would offer my car for you to drive and feel but the coilovers make a big difference besides the sway bars. I can tell you that there is a guy who does auto-x and tracks his 3 (sedan) and does quite well without springs so just the sway bars would not make it drive like crap. Phen can give you an opinion as how she handles

Dude, you car is on rails, it's awesome. I think Larry should definitely follow suit, just get Jenny to get a ride, and she'll be hooked, and then Larry can get the OK!

Thanks for the encouragement guys, Levi made it sound like my car was going to want to spin out or something. Gosh what a jerk! Not that I don't appreciate his input but I had a pretty strong feeling I wasn't going to end up with crazy bad oversteer. Maybe if I were only going to change the rear bar (and went too big) I could see that happening.

I am pretty sure that Jen is on board. Front and rear sway bars, and maybe even used speed3 springs all for the cost of just new sway bars, not to mention wheels (used ones). She is starting to understand what I am after I think.

Chipmunk, that was probably her. I don't see too many silver TT's out and about either and she lives in that area. Now quit stalking my girlfriend or I'll start stalking yours. :P

Which one? "Hey Tessa, will you sell that bad Audi and buy a Mazda?". ;)

Any rear sway bar upgrade will significantly change the feel of a FWD car. Finding the balance of keeping it neutral is the key. The MSP bar on a Protege with non-MSP front bar is the most balanced, my opinion of course. I have the AWR 21.5mm at the stiffest position, and it's tail happy... moreso than the Progress 22 at times.

I will have a used stock MSP Racing Beat Rear Sway Bar posted in my FS Thread soon. Dibbs are being taken (cheap).

Not that question. Besides, why would she want to take a step down?? (lol2)

isn't the tt just a beatle with four rings on it and the beatle is just a golf with a 2 door body? I think it might have been on top gear where i saw that

just wanted to say im glad all you guys that dont own a 3 and havent had the personal experience with the set up larry was looking at are discrediting what i said, i guess i just dont know what im talking about, even though i rolled on the exact same set up (speed sways and stock springs) larry was looking at for about 2500-3000 miles before i got springs to combo with it

whatever i guess you all know better than people with actual knowledge and experience on things

so turns out - doing some research and asking around - a 2.0 trans will bolt up and work well on a 1.8 block, you just need to keep the same tranny internals (clutch and flywheel) from the 2.0, but the bell housing bolts right up... i guess if i would've known this, i would done that with a stronger clutch and lightweight flywheel; i'm sure i'd get more power from just that, mostly the lighter flywheel... but still... can't dwell on the 'woulda, coulda, shoulda' scenarios... look to the future my friends!

it did save me money by not doing that, plus i have a nice young thing that i love to get in and ride hard... ...the miata of course! haha :p

Levi, sorry to say but I was sure you were wrong because I thought that you had only upgraded your rear bar (unlike a certain 6 driver I don't know your mod list), that would for sure cause oversteer. I am confused as to why upgrading both bars and not the springs would cause a handling problem. I am no chassis expert but I just don't understand. My plan is to buy used speed3 springs as well as both bars. I can feel a little discussion coming on, much like the one that went on about wheels.

THE Phen? really?

Blame evilmonkey... he did it.

What? I wouldn't have said it was a handling problem, just a tendency for oversteer.

i never said it would cause handling issues (like something bad) just that the ass wanted to come out more easily.... aka tendency to oversteer
