NEMOC Random BS Thread

So we had to come back early (January 3) for an interterm at the Law School. The whole point is that they hand us a hypothetical appeals case just like a lawyer would receive on his desk and tell you to go for it, the timetable is sped up a bit (normally you would have a month or so to research and draft the brief then wait a year before it goes to argument and another year for decision).

The case I got stuck with is pretty interesting, its a Connecticut version of a challenge to the constitutionality of Obama's health care bill, almost identical to Virginia v. Sebelius or Thomas More Law Center v. Obama (real cases decided in December, the case in Virginia found the bill unconstitutional, Michigan found it constitutional).

The bad news, we don't get to pick our sides and I'm stuck defending Sebelius and Geithner from a self employed plumber who would have to pay 9500 for health insurance under the bill.

My brief is due at the Clerk's office no later than 6pm tomorrow night.

Morning NEPOCers!! Sooo.....GREAT NEWS!! My uncle opened his eyes! My step-mom was singing to him and he opened his eyes!!

Well he still has a long way to go....He should pull through it....We dont knwo how much brain activity there is, being all he did was open his eyes a few times. He is still gone from the waist down, with no circulation for over 72 hours. His kidneys and liver area also shot so we are still waiting but hey its a huge step!

I used to lose money like that all the time, when I once had $100 blow out of my car when I had the top down and I misplaced another envelope of cash a different time. Since then any cash I ever get immediately goes into my wallet and stays there until I need it for something. Only exception is the emergency money I have stashed in my Apartment for when the banking industry gets hacked by socialists and resets everyone's balance to 0.

Everybody laughs but I've seen Live Free or Die Hard and a debit card isn't going to be much good when there's no power. (smash)

You're gonna want cash for the zombie apocalypse too.(zombies)

Where did you say you lived? :)

BTW, I think the odds of your house catching fire or someone breaking in are a little higher than a digital apocalypse.

Hartford

Fireproof safe that I keep emergency money and important documents, bolted to a hidden location in my apt. So maybe my digital apocalypse isn't particularly likely. However I was in central MA two years ago when we had that massive ice storm. No Power for 10 days, cash came in handy because a lot of the stores were using generators to provide minimal power but wouldn't turn on nonessentials like ATMs or credit card readers.

I don't keep a lot, just enough to get by if the whole world does crash for a few days.

I almost never have cash...I thought about putting some in our bank safety deposit box but I never get around to it.
