The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Can't say I've ever had a love for anything that didn't come from Japan. Probably had to do with my parents cars. My dad had 2 626's in a row, the second one being the one I have now. My mom told me she had a GLC/323 in 82, but I only remember the 89 Accord 5 speed she had until she got a 99 Milly, so there was a good deal of Mazda in my early life, which is obviously great.

I'm @ the dealer again, upon a further investigation from LMS it was determined that the suspension on that side shifted towads the back 1 inch... I talked to the insurance company and will try to take car of it that way.

As for me, I've got nitrous for blood and a gas tank for a brain, I was just born that way

sucks about the car pablo good luck with it all man

and i was into cars some with all the gran turismo's but it wasnt really til the Fast and the Furious came out that i REALLY got into cars haha (running to hide now lol)

I just want to go fast.lol For as long as I can remember my parents would take me to local dirt tracks to watch on the weekends, that is probably what got me into cars. So now if there is racing on the t.v I am watching or Using the dvr. I have always wanted a car that I could "hop-up", and hang out with people that have the same passion for cars as I do.

yeah i grew up at the dirt track too, and i was always into cars but i never got into modding them until after the first F&F movie haha

two words: HOT WHEELS!

loved my hot wheels, and most of my legos were thier racing and car/service stations.

on a side note, i get to take my brother to the dentist so he can get knocked out and have a tooth pulled (or something), hopefully he just a little dopey so i can take him to public places and he can make a fool of himself til the drugs wear off.

Hell yes! I still have most of my cars in a box in the closet that I hope to pass on to a child to be made later. (lol2)

I don't know where my love of cars came from as neither of my parents are "car people". I have a couple relatives that are in the industry (one does auto body and the other does paint) but that's it. I never got into racing games until Forza came out, and I'm pretty sure I bought my XBox360 for Forza 2. When I was younger all I cared about was bigger engines and more horsepower. Now I think what appeals to me is all the engineering that goes into performance vehicles. I think I was destined to be an engineer from a very young age as I've always had this burning desire to modify/improve/build everything I own (not just cars).

Me too! I remember buying my first HotWheels when I was probably 5 years old. KB Toys and it was a blue dragster. Then it was all about cars and Legos from then on. I still have a huge HotWheels collection in the basement. All my childhood cars are in there and a lot still in packages. Someday I'll take the time to hang them on the basement wall to display them.

Neither of my parents are car people either. I come from a very musical family, not really an automotive family at all. All of my friends were into Hondas so I guess that's where I got the mod-bug. But this was before the first F&F came out. After that movie the whole scene blew up.

A lot of my friends are either musicians or car guys. And most of them don't understand each other. It's weird that Phen and I have that in common too, we're both good musicians who love cars.

sigh... either the people at the dealer are retarded or they're just too ******* lazy, it's starting to piss me off.

They did a visual inspection and didn't find anyting wrong, and they're tellign me they need to either have the wheel fixed or get a different one to put it up on the alignment machine, apparently they can't use another wheel from the shop/dealer.... even though I told them where to measure and what to look for, they won't do anything till i drop off my other set of wheels tomorrow. So much for a visual inspection, that's how I found out it was off....

Oy vey. You pointed out that lower control arm bushing bracket was bent when we checked it out. They didn't see that? Are they looking at the drivers side wheel well and not the passengers side?

but Like I said, it could always be worse.

I'm the odd bird of my family (big suprise huh?). Dad's worked for Nestle R&D for 33 yrs and mom has been a secretary for just as many years. Grandpa was a carpenter. Dad, Grandpa and I always tinkered around with stuff, but never with cars. Now they get a kick out of my crazy ideas with the "little blue Japanese car" as grandpa says. I was in several concert bands and marching bands in middle school, high school and college (oboe and percussion). I've got no idea where the car scene hit me. I've only owned 2 cars a 1987 ford escort (a rebadged mazda) and the little blue protege. My only plan for the protege was to throw a k&n filter in it and drive it. Then once I started going to college back in 2005 I came across a small speed shop in Marion and bought my first performance part, a vibrant short ram intake. I felt like hot stuff. ha ha ha. Then slowly I started adding parts and once the thing was paid off back in 2008 I had my new job at the dealership and then the big stuff started going on the car. Who knows what'll happen next. I always get a kick out of looking back several years and remember the good ole days.

yup, I told them everything we found so either:

1. they don't believe me and think I'm a smartass
2. they don't know what I'm talking about
3. they're retarded and don't get it
4. they're too lazy to take a look
5. they don't actually see what I'm talking about, which means they're blind

and here I thought taking it to the dealer was a good idea... as opposed to taking it to the body shop the insurance deals with, I didn't like their body work last time

finally some progress, appraiser was out there and saw the suspension shifted. They're looking into it but still need to drop my other set off. He also said it should be better to just buy a new wheel, so they might order it tomorrow.

^I've heard that, too. When the wheel bends, the metal is stressed, and then if you get it repaired, they bend it back, and stress it a second time.

yeah i'm not very comfortable with that, plus it would need to be sand blasted and painted so when i told him the price for 1 wheel he just said to buy a new one

i'd go with all of the above on that one...i despise the dealer...never had a good experience going there with any car....
