Do I need new motor Mount bushings (urethane ones)?

If so, which one (or more) is the best to replace. I'd rather not replace them all as I hear the engine can feel bouncy with all mounts replaced with urethane ones.

what? the engine doesnt feel bouncy at all. the cabin might vibrate, but who told you the engine gets bouncy?

and to answer your questions - you cant replace the bushings on the OEM mounts, only if you already have aftermarket ones. which one should you replace? the one thats broken!
seriously though - front, rear, and inserts for both sides is a substantial improvement. well worth the money.

better motormounts and better shocks should solve the problem.....

on a completely random note, Did you really donate $99.99 to the forum? if so.....wow

i have inserts in the front and sides, and a solid rear mm, and still get a lot of wheel hop. pisses me off more than anything else about this car

go to solids, youll be happy you did. just keep an eye out for some used ones - and if you get a solid pass side mount (a good idea IMO) dont waste your time or money on the SLS. theyre seriously junk.

The weapon R engine dampner could help as well, just another possibility.

Yes, I did. Actually, I don't think the amount appearing below avatar is editable. It's entered there by Antoine (moderator?) after one donates. The donation amount helps alleviate my guilt of always asking question and never having anything to contribute back. I can sleep at night now ;)

Besides, the amount of $ one can save getting help here is worth far more than the $100 (-$0.01) donation.

Sorry, "bouncy" was the wrong word. I mean to refer to the cabin vibration. I'd like to avoid that or at least minimize it.

I have the stiff AWR front and rear mounts and my car vibrates alot.... I dont think I could stand solid mounts (maybe I am just getting old)

dam really what problems did you like find with the sls mounts cause i was considering getting them

I'd like to eliminate wheel hop, but avoid introducing vibrations. Sounds like I can't have best of both worlds, so what's a good compromise?

What if i were to get inserts all around and see how I like the effect before deciding to going with new mounts here and there? Can one even get all 4 inserts, or are they only made for the sides mounts?

Solid mounts (if I understand what they are) I will avoid. I'd rather have wheel hop than have the engine be attached with no bushing at all.

sorry - solid urethane mounts. aka, not rubber with gaps in it, or urethane inserts.

the rear and front are fine, but the side has its share of issues. theyve redesigned the piece that connects to the engine once or twice, but people still end up with small tears there. also, the person who bought my car had the base snap in half at the front bolt hole. i had never heard of that, but i have no reason to doubt him.

AWR makes the side/trans inserts, corksport makes the front/rear inserts. a lot of people will say to do solid urethane front and rear, but im not sure thats sufficient. the side mount is a steaming POS as well. inserts on all four should HELP with hop, but the only way to eliminate it is to get urethane at the front, rear, and passenger side (and maybe inserts for the trans). i ran solid front, passenger side, and inserts on the tranny... vibes werent too bad, but i really needed to replace my rear mount so i cant comment how it would feel with that change.
if you change the front, you should match it with the rear (inserts for both, or solid urethane for both) or your rear WILL break (from experience). pass side doesnt have to match with the trans.
either solid front, rear, and inserts on at least the pass side, or inserts on all four (though you may still have some hop).

I replaced my stock pass. mount with an AWR and I love it. It vibrates more inside the car but i'm used to it already. Once I replace the other mounts the car will be a rattle trap.

I got AWR Front motor mount(used about 15,000 KM) and Medieval Tranny mount (used about 5,000KM)
I got NO wheel hop with this set-up and the vibration were not bad at all. You do feel it a bit, but gives the car a much nicer feel.

They are both off the car and for sale. PM if your interested I can get you pics and everything, now sure if they are in my fs thread.

Thanks. I'll keep it in mind. But for now I've decided to go inserts all around. If that doesn't do it, I'll move onto full mounts then.

The Pass mount made a big difference in wheel hop in my car but it should have, the stock mount came apart entirely in two pieces.
