What have you done to your MSP today?

"Well there's your problem"

Ordered an OEM passenger side motor mount and hardware. $170 shipped three day. I hate not being able to run poly motor mounts in stock class.

so my gfs mom hooked me up yesterday and bought me a optima red top. its awesome.

also im pulling my injen ram air intake off tonight to sell it as a cold air intake(cold air portion not on the car) and probably my stock smic and all the piping. ill probably be running open turbo(no intake). any problems i could run into? and also not having the stock smic in there will i have any issues?

i flushed it all day.. a total of 9. the 3rd bucket came out clear water :), thermostat was replaced. going to wait a few more days and see if its like that again. if so then i will have to take it to a shop, no more house hold inquires

as long as you put a filter on it, not really. but... if you don't run a filter you're basically asking for your turbo to be destroyed.

as for removing the SMIC, you'll need to remount the rad, and ideally, block off the hole where the SMIC was, otherwise you'll get less effective cooling.

why do you have to replace the thermostat? what happens if you dont? my radiator and cooling system was flushed when i got new radiator around dec. then early summer i had black s*** in my coolant (not oil) it was the crap from the old radiator still in the cooling system. I dont think i replaced the thermostat the second time it was black like that.

I would put a filter on it.

It gets clogged and dirty. the dirty bad coolant is also more strenuous on the seals of the t-stat. And a new t-stat costs $10... Cheap peace of mind.

what about running it open would destroy it? i plan on getting some really tight steel mesh and clamping it on there as to not suck anything up. and how signifigant of a cooling issue would i have?

Putting steel mesh on the opening isn't running it open... If you leave it open (literally open), then you run the risk of sucking in particles into the turbine. That would be bad for the turbo. lol

You want as little dust, dirt, etc... getting into the turbo as possible. The same reason you run filters and not just open TB's. Safety, and reliability.

ok cool. and the open/ meshed opening would only be temporary. till i can afford a filter like justanotherp5s or another option im thinking of.

any more info on the smic removale and temp difference?

and mario youve seen my car in person. do you not remmber i have a relocated maf? lol

the vast majority of us with hard pipes put the MAF on the cold pipe. it seems to help the car maintain accurate AFRs, as well as idling better.

I always heard relocating the maf was a bad idea, i would love to relocate mine because with it on it makes my sri really cramped in teh engine bay

where did you hear that, and what was the logic? if its reliability of the MAF... that theory has LONG SINCE been proven invalid. Theres guys with more miles on their relocated maf than some guys on factory location MAFs..
