This question is open to anyone. Like the title suggests, is there any other car out there I can swap rims with? I guess what I am trying to say is that I am starting to hate the low profile tires. Any way I can get away from that? Do I have to buy a set of aftermarket rims? Not really caring about sytle right now, just functionality. The car has been demoted to weekend driving and will be givin to my daugter. Any help is appreciated.

There are some other manufacturers wheels that will fit. Key areas to look for are, bolt pattern (5x114.3 or 5x4.5), hubbore (67.1 you could go with a larger hubore by using hubcentric rings and you could go with a smaller hubbore if you feel comfortable with having it machined to 67.1), offset.

If you want to get away from the low-profile tires, I'd suggest looking at 15" wheels. I know the recommended size is 195/55/15 but you may be able to squeeze a 195/60 on there without rubbing.

You could take it to the extreme and buy 14" for daily use. I have come across several sets on ebay for around $300 a set with specs to fit the P5. Your tire size choices would be 185/65/14 and 185/70/14 (which is what I currently run in the winter).

Thanks man, I was thinking about placing 15" wheels on there. So as long as it follows our bolt pattern I should be fine?

I think I also read that the Eclipse rims will fit our ride?

Yes, Eclipse wheels will work, I use them in the winter.

Alright, I looked on eBay. And the site mentioned before. A 99 Eclipse rim-even though it's ugly, only runs 40 dollars a pop. Does anyone know if it will fit the P5 properly. I called tire rack and the guy told me that the tire runs 1.2 inches taller in diamter than our stock ones. Any help would be great. My car is not really lowered, I have MSP springs in the front and I saw no drop at all.

Thanks

Wrote my last post before I read yours, sorry, lol. Thanks for the confirmation, the 99 eclipse rims are cheap on eBay and the guy from tire rack told me I should get less road noise because the tires should be bigger.

Guessing that you are looking at a 15" wheel from a '99 Eclipse? Width and offset would help and niether was listed on that link posted earlier.

I ran 15" wheels with my winter setup, it works just fine. Cheap-o Sport Edition 5 spokes, they couldn't have cost more than $75 or so a piece. Tires are 195/55/15, speedometer was fairly accurate, I think off by 1-2 mph, so not a huge deal if you know that when it says 67 you're doing 65...

The only thing I can find for the 99 eclipse was the 16" rim

Site that I looked on said they were 5 x 114.3 like ours with a 67.1 bore.
Where did you get your's from if I may ask?

I bought mine from a local junkyard for $100. Of course they are 1993 and steelies (14x5.5 +35 or +38 offset).

Check out this link for 15" wheels that you can buy new. My search was for a 1997 GS Base...from there I opted for the 15" size. You can plug in different years, sizes to see what else may be available. They are still having their $50 rebate on a set of four sale too so that's a nice bonus for ya. If you do call, dial extension 51875 (Zach). He helped me out the last time.

Thanks bro for the site. So all those rims should fit our car? I read our bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3, is that aspect interchangable?

Yes just the center bore is different. I would check the offset on some but they should technically all fit as long as Lug spacing and center bore are the same or higher from other vehicles center bores.

You would have to check the model to see what size rims and width each comes with as options. Nothing a quick google cant cure.

You are welcome and no the bolt pattern is not interchangeable. That is the spacing between the lugs. Look for any that are 5x114.3 and I'm going to say that you'll want an offset from +38 thru +45 (give or take). If you should find some you like, call and talk to Zach first before buying. Tell him what you are doing and he'll be able to confirm fitment before you spend the money.

I thought he meant as interchangeable with other vehicles....

Excuse my last question, I was basically doing two things at once and was not paying attention. I might end up trying the Eclipse Rim I found on eBay-

They are still 16" but the tires are 205 15 16 and should cancel out some of that cabin noise.

But at the same time, those steelies look like a better option, I got nobody to impress and I would love to get away from the low profile tires. Thanks everyone for your help as well.

I just sold some 3rd gen eclipse rims with tires for $80...I wish you would have told me sooner...

DAMMIT!! I was going to ask if you had rims a while back but it never crossed my mind. I did call tire rack back, they said I can but a bigger tire on the rim and it should calm down some of the road noise, so I am going in that direction for now.

I have a pair of Mazda3 steelies...no rims, but they would be good to put cheap tires on...you could get used tires for around $20 each...

If you want the steelies they are yours for $30...I need them gone...
