you brought it though.

all of the protege's in there that are "slammed" had the dg lip. take off the lip and sideskirts and they look sky high still.

Do we have any 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 owners in this group? I have been working with Jim Daniels on the ECU of the 2010 Speed 3 and he has cracked it!!

There is still more testing being done, Dyno, etc and once we have the final results we will be offering upgrades to all owners who want the upgrade. We are estimating an additional 70 WHP, minimum.

For those who do not know Jim, he was a Mazda Factory Driver, MX-5 Cup Champion and a World Challenge rookie of the Year for Tri-Point. He current coaches a few drivers, builds Spec Miataa, Ford Mustang Challenge cars and more.

He is extremely knowledgeable and has invested a great deoal of time and money in this project.

damn... almost makes me wish i had a happy speed to test this

how would you know if a motor mount is going bad? i'm starting to hear squeaking when i shift and today i down shifted and my car made a loud thud sound when on got on the gas (pedal about 1/2 way or a little more)

Open the hood, rev the engine and have someone see if the engine moves a lot. The thud actually might be the motor hitting the hood. My friend had that happen on his Golf.

You should also notice excessive movement, such as if you are in 1st gear and you let off the gas and the car seems to hiccup, or lurch forward, kind of staggering forward instead of decelerating smoothly. Sorry, that's the best I can describe it.

^ i get that kinda hiccup/wheel hop recently when going from a dead stop into first and accelerating sometimes, but not always.

the slammed thread just keeps getting better and better, im just as low or in some cases lower than alot of the "slammed approved" guys, and im running 18's with a decent sized tire but im not slammed... ROFL

I had to unsubscribe to that slammed thread. Those cats are hopeless... But that crap is spreading.

i check it just for the occasional laugh...

that and to be honest some of the "slammed" cars do look pretty damn good... granted i wouldnt go lower than i am right now cause well thats just crazy but im not about to hate on someone that does want to slam the s*** out of their car to the point of desctruction....

I wouod love to see the slammed crowd come to Mid-Ohio and see how well their cars would handle at the track. Maybe I am becoming senile, I just don't get it, it has no benefit from a performance standpoint, it is not like these guys are winning major awards at carshows, etc.

It is like a remake of Dumb and Dumber with no end in sight!!!

they are the idiots that wanted pinch weld and sub frame measurements.

as i said, protege's really dont go that low. it is the lips that make them look low.

now i have to check again.

Edit: and now i also want a happy speed to test that out!

lol... i find it funny cause i lowered my 3 with what i felt was one of the best options in springs (tein stechs) out for the 3... alot of those guys did coilovers and modded them to go even lower, slapped lips and such on to look even lower and now that the tape is being busted out im still around the same height at the frame rails as some of them... yet mine is for function not form (although it does some form too) haha

hell ill bet laurie's 6 and marlons wagon are just as low as they "slammed" guys too... hahahaha

I'm with ya. I don't understand how some people can drive a car that's laying on the ground. I only have one car, so it's gotta get me from point A to point B all day, every day. try to take one of those "slammed" cars down a country road, let alone a snow covered rd.

my philosophy: drop it to the point in which handling is gonna be the best-then see how it looks. If it still doesn't suit your style of looks, go a hair lower without hurting much.

Of course, if your car for some reason actually handles better stock, I still believe in a drop for looks--just not slammed

have any of you actually read the thread in the last day or so now that the measurements are coming up... they arent as "slammed" as you would have thought... the average height on the pinch welds seems to be around 3.8-4" (front) 4.25-4.5" (rear) (excluding dub's miata that thing is SLAMMED)

i dunno about you guys but i wouldnt consider that "slammed".... i mean its low but not "slammed"

its all the illusion the guys use with lips and sideskirts....

you tell a vdub guy your pinchwelds are 4" from the ground and they will laugh in your face and ask if its a joke....
