MS6 Wagon. Feasable?

As a Protege5 driver since '01, I gotta say I love that 6 wagon (looks like the P5's big brother to me), but I'm not loving the thought of going another 9 years in an underpowered car...I want a 'speed 6 wagon.

Forget the V6, I want that 2.3 DISI engine from the 'speed 3 and 6, and I want AWD. I've been checking out Audi Allroads lately, and I'll probably buy one in the next few months, but it sure would be nice to stick with Mazdas. We currently own 3 of them (my P5, my wife's MSP and my FD) now, and I've been through 6 of them in the past 10 years or so (assorted FCs and a Miata or two ;)) I've always liked the fact that Mazdas are underrated, great handling cars that people in the know, know about.

Has anyone ever done this swap? I've found a 6 wagon with a blown motor, and it makes me wonder.....

I can only really speculate, but from how difficult it was to swap the speed3 parts into a mz5, I'd bet its going to end up not being at all worth doing.

that said, I'd love to be proven wrong.

Well you can't really compare that conversion to the spd6 to 6wagon conversion... I can this because I don't see the dash wiring harness being way to different then the regular6. I'm sure their are differences but nothing compared to the mz5 compared to the ms3.

With that all said.. Would the wagon even have the required cracing for the rear diff thats on the ms6? Also are the wheel bases different?

The awd makes things a lot more difficult for you. It will not be worth it. There was a guy local to me that had a shop my buddy works at do the speed3 swap into a sedan 3 and it cost him 15k for the swap. Anything can be done but in this case, you would be a lot better off forging the motor and boosting it.

There's a guy locally here that has a boosted wagon 6. It's very very nice.

I've always thought a 'speed 3 sedan would be cool too. Lol, must be those guys at the RX-7 club rubbing off on me with all their crazy LSX, 20B and 2jzgte swaps. (smash)
I was thinking that the transmission would most likely be the toughest part of the swap. I was just hoping you guys would be all "Oh yeah, That's an common swap. You can buy the adapter at Tripoint!" Haha. No such luck.

Yeah, a boosted V6 would be pretty cool, but even our MSP's got some torque steer and I've never even driven an MS3. I've just heard stories.

Damn those Allroads with their twin turbo V6s, AWD, dual sunroofs, and adjustable suspension. (shrug)
