NEMOC Random BS Thread

already have the new (smaller) tiles in my garage.

I'm going to start laying tile on Saturday.

The floor is the last thing that needs to be done. once the tile sets and dries, we're done.

Nice...I'll bet you will be happy when it's complete.

Looks like we'll be doing a mini-bath re-model. Our tub is leaking (5-6 tiles are loose along the bottom and Tam hates the tile and the pink tub so we are shopping for a white tub and a smooth surround.

Had a contractor stop by over the weekend but he wouldn't even give me an estimate of charges until he saw what was behind the tile. I fully understand that there will be other expenses incurred (greenwall, etc) but at least a rough approximation.... He did say that he charges $20hr per person and then told us where to shop for the tub/surround but not to buy it. He would do that and then let us know how much it was. (screwy) Needless to say, looks like we are going to go the DIY route....

That is screwy... I'd go DIY too. I'm going to end up tearing apart my "master" bath because of the trap... Found out that the reason my ceiling under the bathroom was getting wet was because there wasn't enough support under the shower and when you step in it, it pushes the trap into the ceiling and makes it leak. Stopped the leak by putting a hole in the ceiling lol.. hence ceiling cat.

Or get another contractor. That guy kind of sounds like a dick.

Yeah....crazy thing is he was referred by my wife's boss. Maybe he's using to having full or pretty damn close to full control?

We've never done anything like this but I was browising doityourself.com last night and it doesn't seem like it will be that difficult. Oh, he dropped a catalog off at the house with items circled that he thinks would be best for us....three piece surround, new hardware, cartridge $937.xx!!!!

Yes!

Hi dude....was going to text ya and see how the trip went. Good to hear you made it in ok.

That sux....x2 on plan b?

Don't text me. Email me. Texts are 50 cents a piece.

Good luck Phen

Thanks Bruce.

Hope you have kneepads!

I chuckled. hehehe.

So... I've taken pictures so far... but Flickr really isn't cooperating too much here. I'm going to keep messing with it and hopefully be able to share.

Man that sucks, how did she find out?

She had a suspision about a girl that worked at the Cigar Bar he goes to with his buddies after their softball games. She confronted him about cheating and he confessed to a different girl. Turns out there was more than one.

Its the plumbing that is the hard part. The rest of it is just like putting up drywall in any other room. It is a slow process to do by yourself because work, but certainly cheaper.

Good call, I hadn't thought about the fees.

Busy weekend coming up here....getting tires installed and an alignment somewhere between mowing the lawn, watching my son play in his soccer tourney (four games guaranteed) and volunteering at least 2hrs at said tourney's snack bar.

Damn.....I hope she at least (nuts) before sending him packing.

Well, no real plumbing so to speak. The pipes/drain are all good. I'll just have to remove the shower head (which is newer) and she wants a new handle.

I need to buy a sawzall...

sawzall's are fun...

The plug in kind are much better than the battery type if you're just using it for your house. The 18v ones go through batteries like crazy. You spend more time charging the battery than using the saw.

Milwauke is the best! Dewalt or mikita are good too.

He currently is sleeping in his car and showering at his gym because we changed her locks and he has no where to go. His friends all told him he was an a**hole and deserves what he gets.

Thats is great that the plumbing lines up with the holes in the tub surround. You lucked out there!

It's probably the government's filter they have in place to control your internet that is doing it.

Good for her and he deserves everything he gets. Assholes like that deserve it.

That's awesome that his friends are giving him a cold shoulder too.

qft....I don't own one myself but have used my neighbors and the plug-in are def. the best route.

He made his bed now he can lie in it.

Actually, we don't have the surround yet but it was my understanding that you drilled the holes in them where they were needed?

It all depends on what you get. Some are one piece shells, while others are 'kits' or pieces that go together. Some are pre-drilled and some are not. I guess it will all depend on what you buy.

Well....I guess come sat I will be in a dunk tank! We are having out Kick-Off Celebration Saturday and part of it is a Coaches Dunk Tank and I got assigned to it! Gonna be a cold wet day for me.
