Leaking Seals after changing MT Fluid to Synthetic?

It appears that the manual transmission is leaking at the bottom of the housing after changing my 2001 Protege 2.0 manual transmission fluid with Redline 75w-90. I see some small, occasional drips, and it looks like the housing and the surrounding areas on the underside of the car all got soaked with it. Is this a bad sign, or will the seals be fixed with the new fluid soon? What should I do? I've already made sure all the bolts are tight.

I'm planning to change my MT fluid soon as well. Was probably going to use redline, but would like to know if this is a bad idea also. I have 90k miles on it so it may be too late to switch over to synthetic. Any opinions?

Ibwarped - could you give me a quick walk-through of how to change the fluid. Is the larger hex nut near the cables the drain plug? Edit: found another pic. that's the fill.

this may or may not be the issue: Redline's recommended application for the G15M-R transmission would be MT-90. if you used 75W90 GL-5 Gear Oil it may be too thin for the seals to work properly (along with shifting problems).

if thats the case you might want to drain and refill with the proper transmission fluid? just a thought.

Thanks, but I did use MT-90, which has that weight. The leak has significantly slowed and I can't really tell if it's an issue anymore. My nose says it's not because it doesn't smell like it did the first few days afterward.

I would notice significant issues with shifting if the fluid level would get too low from the leaking, correct?

yes, hard shifting gears, transmission noise, your transmission would be overheating too so you'd smell it burning or see smoke.
