Ciao!

Finally got my CX9 from import customs yesterday in Italy. The registration office had a hard time classifying the vehicle. They finally settled on SUV vs. MPV after some animated hand gesture arguments between office workers. Filled her up 3/4 of the way with 50 liters of senza piombo at the Esso and took her for a spin.

I noticed right away that the shippers put 20 miles on it, and the battery was almost dead after 2 months of shipping. It also drove like a granny car for a bit, so I floored it a couple of times on the autostrada to ingrain my style.

Let me say that the driving in Naples is friggin crazy. I had to clench my butt cheeks a few times when a single lane was used as a 3 lane, or cars come down the wrong side of the road. I am used to DC driving, but holy turd. I will try and get a good picture near Vesuvius or the Colosseum and post it.

Until then Ciao a tutti!

Congratulations and welcome. I take it you are in the USN and stationed in Naples. Nice posting.

I attended the Forest Sherman Elementary School at the Navy base there a long time ago. Fond memories but then I wasn't the driver in those days. I do recall seeing the "mille migle" (thousand mile) race right at the top of our street with lots of red Ferrari's blasting past.

Good luck with your CX9. You probably have the widest car in Naples.

I sent my car 13 May and it arrived here 26 June. Not quite 2 months, but with training in between it worked out to 2 months ish.

I am USN, and have been for 16 years now. As far as having the widest vehicle in Naples, things have changes since I was in Sardinia 12 years ago. They have SUV's here now. I have seen a few Touregs and H3's here, not American. SUV Italian + still small roads = Holy crapper when driving for all.
