Stroker Kit

You could do your own pretty easly if you wanted. Marine Crankshaft will stroke any crankshaft and Carrillo will custom make rods. You could also have JE pistons make custom piston with an offset wristpin instead of going with a shorter rod (better way).

i've been wanting to do this to my 2.0, hopefully be able to bring it to a 2.5 (like the new models) but while i'm at it, get better internals to make it more powerful. Do you happen to know how much $$ i'd be looking at?

Thousands of dollars. The machining of the crank shaft alone goes somewhere from 800 to 1400. Then you will either need custom shorter rods or custom pistons with a off set wrist pin. But if you are buying rods you may as well get forged pistons and if you are buying forged pistons you may as well get rods.
Then you will have to do very careful mesurments to make sure your valve clearence is ok and your compression ratio is ok. Not an easy build for someone with little engine experence.

this is one of those "if you have to ask...." questions. This kinda of work requires a lot of money and intimate knowledge of building engines.

Alright, I was thinking maybe of stroking because then it'd become more unique and would def give a better sound to my car. Also maintenance wouldn't be as costly. But you guys are the experts so i'll take your word for it(rockon)

I used a Dremel and caliper on my block to up it to 2.4L. It took a few weeks, but it can be done as an extended project.

It does not require intimate anything. It requires patience and knowledge.

No one here is an expert. If you 'stroke' your engine, you're not going to be using the factory computer even. It would not be less maintenance, and you should not take our word for it. I doubt anyone here has even attempted what you're speaking of.

I have built many stroked motorcycle engines. other than the size (I have built a 1.5 liter motorcycle engine) they are not any diffrent than a Mazdaspeed engine.

Yes they are. All engines are different. Now show me someone who's done it to a Mazdaspeed.

When you get right down to it they are all the same. They all have a crank, rods, pistons and so on. Unless you have a RX-8/7.

I'm starting my mechanics course in september. I think i'm going to talk it through with the teachers and see what their take on it is. I'd love to see an increase of power through my whole rpm range. Just hoping it would at least give me more then 50 hp, that'd way it'd be on par with a stage 1 supercharger that's in the making. Which is going for a 3k..
