THE lid has been lifted on Volvos stylish new S60. These exclusive images give you the best idea yet of how the C70-replacing convertible will look. And, just like its predecessor, the newcomer will have a folding metal roof which disappears into the boot in 30 seconds.

In a bid to simplify the range, the fresh open-top car will get a new name, too: forming part of Volvos four-strong 60 line-up, itll be badged C60, joining the S60 saloon, V60 estate and XC60 SUV. The four vehicles together represent the firms biggest-selling model range worldwide.
As you can see, the cabrio retains the look of the S60 from the windscreen forwards. However, the car features reinforced A-pillars to protect occupants in the event of a crash, and two enlarged doors to aid access to the rear seats.

Despite the fact that Volvo is now owned by Chinese car manufacturer Geely, the C60 is built on a stretched Ford Mondeo platform. But while four-wheel drive is an option on the saloon, the convertible will be front-drive only. Buyers will have a choice of two five-cylinder diesel motors: a 163bhp 2.0-litre or a 205bhp 2.4. There will also be two petrol units: a 240bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo and a 300bhp 3.0 six-cylinder T6.
Prices are expected to start at 29,000, and high levels of standard kit are promised. The S60s Pedestrian Detection and Adaptive Cruise Control will be standard, as will leather, climate control, Bluetooth and parking sensors. Expect the C60 to arrive in showrooms in a years time.
