Post The Best Pictures of Your Mazda

There's a point where low is no longer functional.

/end

yup, especially on stock components. you can change out struts and springs and drop to the ground, but once your control arms get below vertical, you're at the point of deminishing returns. plus, your steering connections need to be re-engineered, your toe control points, camber angles, etc.

more isnt always better.

Yeah well people don't understand the concept of balance. I'm past my "don't mind my molars getting rattled out of my head" phase of suspension tuning. I don't need a race car for the street, but don't mind having a street car I can take on the track once in a while...

i know. i had a road racer tell me that for the protege, the lowest you want your ride heigh on stock suspension arms is about 12.5 inches all around. (measured fender lip to wheel center) anything lower, and your handling will go right out the window because you are messing with roll centers and roll couples. interestingly, right at that ride height, the front and rear control arms are parallel to the ground. (currently, my car sits at 12.75 in the front, and 12.5 at the rear) also, at that ride height, there is a critical spring rate (between spring rates and swaybars) that needs to be used so that you don't get excessive suspension travel and roll.

Ya, and if you're gonna make a street driven car (especially a DD) slammed, just be sane enough to understand & admit that it's not for functional purposes.

Besides, anyone who has actually driven a slammed car, knows it's not functional anyways. Being 10 minutes late to a meeting because you had to take the long way around to avoid Martin Luther King st. because it has too many potholes and the parking lot entrance from MLK has too steep of a curb to get up anyways... (rofl2)

Interesting... I'm a touch lower than you, so I shouldn't be too far off of that, hopefully.

What u gotta do next is take a trip down here and come to one of our meets. Would really like to see ur ride in person.
I honestly might consider doing this. Would probably roll deep with some of my Mazda homies down there. I would have to catch up with Drew(SwirlFX) as well. Miss that guy around these parts.

For the sake of being on topic:

What do you know fanboi? I'm not gonna get into this conversation with you because you refuse to even acknowledge balance in a vehicle...
hey my miata is at an ideal handling ride height with ideal spring rates...

for now...
plus, you ain't lowered til you need cambers and roll to clear your tyre ;)

^Yup... and then I get to stop having nosebleeds, and my car will be at ideal ride height with ideal spring rates.
