What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

Broke up with the g/f today, so I'm getting the itch to place the order for the GT. Think of it as redemption.

(alright) Do it Steve!!!.. (drinks)

man the pollen is bad around here.. washed the car.. doesnt look like i did though..

owning a dark colored car = a curse & blessing all rolled into one neat package!!
i feel ya, we had insane winds the last couple days. THE day after i wash my car, its matted with all sorts of dust, pollen, bugs, etc.

well i washed the front end of the car once i got home from sundays show in NH, because if you leave bugs, bug juice on the paint too long its a b**** to get off so today i did the whole car and basically it just needs to be dusted off, but still its rediculous..

Saw my 1st 2010 speed 3 today on the way to the gym. Was black and stock. To each his own but . . . yucky. I think the regular 3's look better.

Called the local dealer to schedule a visit. I've got two things going on.....

1. Whenever I go over a medium or large bump in the road my door-open indicator light comes on and all of my cabin lights turn on.....annoying as s***!

2. When I'm going through a low mph turn (less than 15mph) in either direction I hear a clunking coming from the front suspension. Any ideas? I'm guessing CV joints/boots/something down there?

Mazda killed the 3. period. lol
i was going to get a new 3 in February but since they changed the body i have to hunt down a used 09.

i drove the 6 today and then realized it hasn't been washed in about 2 weeks. but the awesome thing about grey is that you cant tell :)

I have the same problem... its so bad that I'm pretty sure I waxed in some pollen... even though I waxed right after washing.

Installed the jbarone short shift plate. what a pain in the ass. I am cursed when it comes to mechanical stuff. I had no internet at the time so I couldn't find any instructions to get the stock airbox off until I got frustrated, tried yanking it off and it came off (felt dumb there...). Then it took me forever to get the damn shift cable off the ball joint (It took a looooot more force than I was comfortable with). Next misfortune was losing my only 6 point 1/4" 12mm socket down in the cowling, so I had to take the cowling off, and later when I was putting the battery tray back in I lost one of those screws (still havent found it... the cowling donated a screw to the tray) and noticed that the positive terminal cable is still loose on the terminal even with the nut fully tightened... and the brace across the top of the tray isn't actually holding down the battery... so idk what the deal with that one is. A supposedly easy install took me 2.5 hours to do, with lots of swearing, sweating, bashed knuckles, and frustration. I love the new shift feel... can't wait to install the solid bushings!

welcome to the world of modding.. lol i cant count how many times ive sworn at the car, threw a wrench out the garage, busted my knuckles ( although thats stopped since ive started using gloves) and all that good stuff.. 2.5 hours isnt bad for your first time modding this car.. :) glad you like it!!!

last time I did anything to a car was my 3... trying to get the stupid AC belt on. Why they chose to give it a separate belt for the AC compressor without a tensioner is beyond me. Was stuck under the car for 3 hours, swearing and moaning because to get the belt on I actually unmounted the compressor to give it slack. couldnt get it back on for the life of me...eventually gave up and was going to have a shop do it, but with winter fast approaching, I let it slide. I eventually fixed it... by selling the car to buy my MS6! somehow I lost an english socket in that fury.. dont know how, everything is metric on these cars.

installed the loaner wheels... 18x8.5 rota dtp's i'll snap a good picture in the morning...

the car drives soooo much better with a good set of tires on it

Way back when i started modding cars (started modding back on a 1994 accord, non-ricer no worries! lol) i learned a lesson the hard way; PREP work is king. honestly PREP work is like 75% of properly working on your car, making the the last 25% go super smooth... well usually. lol

PREP work encompasses things like studying install notes/instructions off and on at least a day in advance. Also, mentally/physically making a note of tools you will need to use, knowing which you have and which you will need to get, having all necessary parts/pieces/materials to fully do install. Sounds like a lot of unnecessary work, but all in all that all depends on how large the install is. for something like the SSP, prolly 15-20 min prep is all that would be needed. Part of the reason you wanna do the prep at LEAST a day in advance is to avoid the exact problem you ran into; not having write-ups/info present at the time of install. PREP woulda meant you would simply need to recall what you already read, listed & studied for.

thats the fun of self work on cars, learning. all about your own ride.
No worries, my 10 minute install of strut brace and rear interior brace ended up taking me 1.5 hours purely cause i kept dropping bolts in hard to reach places. Buahahha... sometimes even planning wont help you, you better believe i was cussing the whole damn time. Especially when i untorqued a bolt smashed my knuckle against the rear corner braces whic had sharp enough metal to slice open multiple fingers, THAT was a bloody mess for such a simple install. HAHAha. i learned to wear gloves more often... :D

lol cheers for my freakin essay. (drunk)

Sorry you're going through that...though hopefully it means a brighter future.

Never make a big decision on something when other emotions are swaying you, you almost never get what you really wanted because you just want to make a change and hurry up to buy something. Get something smaller...I picked up the iPhone when I went through a similar event. Or, wait until you're exactly clear on what you want to get.

After all, if you fubar your Mustang purchase because you feel an itch after ending the relationship, then that's a win for her, and you wouldn't want that.

I totally agree. Trust me, us splitting up isn't the reason for the purchase, but it's a catalyst. I was going to do it all along, but just wait a bit longer. Without her and not having plans, I have more flexibility, and therefore I may just do it now, before summer is over, and enjoy the car.
