qftwtf. The ricers arguing the ms3 is gods gift. And the old farts arguing that the ms6 is more sophisticated. Just test drive both and get wtf you want. Everyone is bias to what they drive.

Financially it makes no real difference. My MS6 was a Mazda VP car with 2000 mileso n it when I bought it so I got a HUGE discount. I paid 18k or a Black Cherry Sport. I just like the look of the new MS3 where as the MS6 blends in with the base 6 more. I drove the two and the MS6 has much higher handling limits in my humble opinion, mostly due to AWD.
In my mind the 2 cars are very similar and so dropping one for the other is just a poor financial decision assuming there's nothing wrong with OPs Speed6. He'll drop extra dough, and it's not really clear what he'll gain in the exchange... a newer car I guess?
- 450 fewer pounds
- 7-10% more power being applied to the ground where it belongs
- A smaller more agile vehicle
- A vehicle with far superior passing power / at speed acceleration
- A vehicle with better accommodations for gear, personal items, etc.
- Maybe AWD is more of a burden where you live
This has nothing to do with being "God's gifts to cars" just simple facts that can potentially serve as very valid reasons for possibly making a change.
Most people don't care about agility. Are you autocrossing or something? 7-10% more power to the wheels? so why are speed 6's putting down similar / even higher #'s than 3's on the dyno? Look at youtube videos and watch speed 6 1/4 mile times. On average they are much lower than speed 3 videos.
To make a good time with a 3 you need great driving and slicks or awesome tires.
Not to mention you can switch from AWD to FWD.
You can't be serious!
You think the MS6 puts down higher #'s on a DYNO vs. a MS3? Big negative!
We’re talking FWD vs. AWD here. It’s not even close.
1/4 times? No the MS3 isn't exactly suited for running the 1/4 mile yet it still produces better times vs. the MS6. How often to you stop light race anyway?
Nobody cares about agility?? That’s just funny I have nothing to add.
And like I said, the MS3 is much quicker "at speed" which is the type of speed most relay on day to day. Say you're at 40mph and need to accelerate to 80mph quickly, the MS3 will accomplish this much faster.
Weight (450lbs) and power lose via the drive train (FWD ~12% / AWD ~22%) do have a significant effect on performance. This is an undeniable fact.
This is actually quite entertaining.
Well now, both points are valid, and both points have have different values to different people.
On one side, you have those that prefer a sedan to a hatch. Then you have the AWD crowd against the FWD crowd. The "boy racer" versus the "old fart". Well its obvious that both of you drive your cars for different reasons, or rather, you find different kinds of enjoyment from driving your cars.
I can completely agree that the MS3 does not look as "refined" as the MS6, but that is only considering the fact that the 6 is a family sedan that kicks ass minus a flared wing, where as the 3 is a hatch that kicks ass with a flared wing. No one looks twice at my MS3 because it is just another hatch to most people. I might as well be driving a Prius, Fit, or Yaris as far as other drivers are concerned.
I also drive quickly (at speed). I don't go tearing off from stop lights, but on the HWY I will push 80-85 in a 55 zone. Call it reckless, call it what you want, but thats the way I drive, and so does damn near every other car on the HWY around here. And if you think this is excusing the fact that I speed on the HWY, lets see you drive 55 on I-495 around DC. You will be the only one driving that slow, trust me. So, I understand "quickness when you need it."
At the same time, I also don't understand why when someone starts talking performance aspects of a car, all of a sudden he is a "ricer" or "boy racer". How does that work? So, you're saying that because its a performance hatch, it automatically makes its driver a "ricer" or "boy racer"? I just don't see how the association is drawn.
And finally, what defines sophistication? Is sophistication driving something that is more expensive, bigger, more leather? Is sophistication defined by the driver themselves? Is it how they drive, maintain, and present their car?
Everything that has been discussed in this thread is opinion. But, thats what the OP asked for. So, OP, do whatever gives you jollies
but if it were my decision, save ur money, drive the 6. I drove my 240 'till the wheels fell off. It was a '91, I owned it for almost 7 years, drove it daily, and I just got rid of it this past Feb. Oh, but wait, I was a "ricer boy racer" the whole time I was driving it because it was a turbo hatch, so you may not want to go that route...
its kind of hard to see it from your point of view when all you want to do is "go fast".
It's hard to see my point of view?? Its hard for you to comprehend that lighter weight and a significantly better power to weight ratio equals faster car??
Did I say being faster is all that matters? No, thats you making assumptions. I simply pointed out the very significant factor of being quicker when you need it most.

so a while back you said that its not all about speed with you, but you wont get off the subject that the "ms3 is a faster car". yeah its a faster car we all know that. now come up with other factors on why it would be a good idea to trade in a speed6 for a speed3.You can't be serious!
