Hey guys, so my one headlight just died and it's the perfect time for me to upgrade. I had been thinking of getting an HID kit but not sure which are good out there...seeing as there are so many stores it's hard to trust. I currently have some Luminics 6000k Xenon Bulbs and they worked great for 2 years until one of them died on Saturday. :(

Can you guys enlighten me as to which to choose? Thanks!

TT Ken @ PG. He usually has a few kits laying around that you could swing by and pics up. i like to do business face to face if possible for the same reason you site. Not sure where Plainfield is, but PG is a little norht of Chicago. Make it a cruise and some of the locals will usually come out for dinner and a little drive on the weekends. You can even get the kit installed while you wait.

next to me, and yes Ken is someone you can trust

Yep. Ken is a good guy. I drive all the way out from Highland In to harass him.

those r some badass rims.

I too was burning bulbs all the time - especially driver's side, every November/early December without fail.

I've had one of Ken's kits now for over a year and it's been 100% reliable and performs great. No regrets and was easy to install.

How hard is something like http://ddmtuning.com/products/101/ to install?

DDMs are easy to install and have the lifetime warranty. I have had my 8k 35w now for 6 months and no issues with them whatsoever. Ken could you hook you up as well but basically any HID kit should take you about 10-15 mins to install. The slims are the way to go. I have pics on my profile of where I hid the ballasts.

Sweet, thanks man. What's the difference between the 35 and 55 watts? Are the 55 brighter? I was also thinking of getting the 8ks. How do you like those?I hope I can install with no problem.

55w will be brighter, but more likely to blow fuses. Just an FYI, 8K is far enough to the blue/purple color side of things to attract the attention of the police.

Hmmm, maybe I should stick with the 6k then? I removed my old bulbs yesterday and the one that burnt had like a bubble on the side. I also noticed those were 55w bulbs.

I have had a couple LCS follow me a couple times at night. Couldn't tell if it was for the HIDs or the blue LED plate light. Either way, haven't been pulled over yet.... knocking on wood as I type this.

Yeah, 8K just makes it a bit more likely (kinda like not running a front plate, mine fell off the other day). 10K would make it really likely. Also as you increase the temp you reach a point of diminishing returns where increasing the temp doesn't make seeing at night easier. I think that point is somewhere in between 6 and 8K, closer to 6 than 8 though.
