So what should he have done to keep his car from doing this?
My last 4 sets of Arias pistons did the exact same thing on cylinder #4. I run CP now.
Let me get this straight, you want to run the 9:1 compression without timing control?
Get ready for another engine build... Knock is VERY hard to hear on the FS, you need to be running some kind of standalone even with methanol. At the very least you need a knock detection device.
CP pistons are the best pistons you can buy for the FS.
would the ssftc be sufficiant to run 15 psi on stated compression ratio?
Try it and find out! (eek2)
Also consider the importance of proper oiling.
Get a DocB modified oil pump and external oil press adj. for these high boost builds.
Its a very worthwhile precaution.
i'll go with 8.5:1 again that isn't a problem. I was just wondering because before i was told to retard the timing, but if using meth to advance? That why i asked about 9:1 on meth.
15psi on gt2554 is wayyyy to hard on the turbo, yoour working the turbo out of the choke line. not good!
jesus people i'm not on stock turbo this has been mentioned a few times...
Garrett Reps told me over the telephone that the stock turbo can be ran at that psi level (15) with no problem, although outside of it's "peak efficiency". They had no concerns at all. Take into consideration, that I only run 12 max now, but still, while it's not a good top end or high psi turbo, it can in fact take it.
