Best Wheel Cleaner??

moved for you. i personally use the Meguirs Hot Rims, but that doesn't mean that its the *best*...

"Allbright Wire Wheel Acid" is good stuff, but be warned that it is HIGHLY acidic!

Meg's All Wheel cleaner is a cheap, easy to find one that works well. Just make sure you pre-soak the wheel.

P21S/S100 gel wheel cleaner is what I use when the wheels are off the car, and it works very well and smells great.

I'd also look at getting some type of wheel wax/sealant. I've had great luck with Poorboy's Wheel Sealant. After a good wash and a quick clay of the wheels (use an old piece, not the same one for your paint!), put it on and wipe it off, and it's set for a month or two. Most of the dust washes off without any scrubbing.

ammonia and water mix

1 part ammonia 2 parts water

I hear that white vinegar and water works just as well

use at your own risk though.

I learned it from an oldschool guy who was cleaning a client's hot rod's wheels at the local body shop.

The wheel acid works wonders as well as the ammonia. But be careful. Knew a guy once that decided to be a moron and use a rag. But the rag in the water with his hand to wash off the rag and burned off ALL the skin on his hand. was GROSSSSS..

I haven't found a single wheel cleaner that does involve some sort of scrubbing. Spray and rinse my ass. I use simple green and a toothbrush. Way cheaper, and all I use the simple green for is mostly just a lubricant.

Mother's has a new foam wheel cleaner I might try.

I usually hose everything down, then hit the wheels with Simple Green and let it sit a few minutes. If things aren't too bad, most of the dust and dirt will rinse off. If I've left it too long, it requires some scrubbing too. Just don't leave it on TOO long.

I found the best wheel brush for our wheels after a while of searching. The Swissvax wheel brush works awesome for getting in the corners of the wheels, and you can also get the lugs and emblems without any trouble. Follow that up with a wash mitt and brush, and the wheel looks like new.

I'll take some pics next time I decide to wash the wheels real good.

Westley's Bleche Wite will literally melt off baked on brake dust and road grime. It's the only thing that would clean the rear wheel on my 1125R...nothing else worked...simple green, purple power all with rough scrubbing. B W is like 3.99 at any auto parts store. Just be careful getting it on raw aluminum as it can turn it cloudy. I'd only advise leaving it on the area for about a minute or so.

New to the forums. Was looking for suggestions on lowering springs and saw this thread and had to post. I use f*ckin Bleche Wite to clean my bathroom...s***'s awesome. It'll give you brain damage I think though, if you breathe too much of it in, hahaha.

Thanks DrA, never heard of that. Welcome to the forums!

There are a few good options for springs, depending on what you're looking for. Oh, and also your specific model. Are you a Speed6? I don't want to get this thread off track, so post a thread to say hello to everyone, include a pic of your (new?) car, and let us know what your plans are. You should get some good feedback.

My dad has used Bleche-White for a while, but I never found it to be as good. Guess it's a personal preference. It does, however, clean the rubber on the tires up really well.

oh ya. shoot, i forgot about these things. They do a super good job. I remember working at albertsons and cleaning the bathrooms. I used these bad boys all the time. getting graffiti off the stalls and stuff. good one MR X. :)

*meh* hot water + car wash soap + rag + elbow grease.

a bit more work scrub-wise, but i never bothered spending extra cash for speshul "wheel cleaner".
Does any anything leave behind a protective layer? i want to start protecting them with something...

Poorboys Wheel Sealant. End of story.

And you'd be surprised how much easier it is to clean wheels when you use some spray-on cleaner.
