Yeah, they're super simple. You might just need one part, instead of a whole trans. (2thumbs)

Yeah, the trannys made after 02-14-2002 had the stronger parts in them. If I'm not mistaken I believe the trannys in the 1.8L protege's also bolts up...I thought I had read that the only difference in the 1.8L and the 2.0L was obviously the piston size/cylinder bore...but from what I recall I think that's about the only noticeable difference. If I'm wrong by all means correct me.

as far as the 1.8 trannys go, I don't know how that works either. Like if its the same or what, tis why I played it safe and said 2.0 lol

Thanks man, I see alot of 1.8 trans, the 2.0...not to much on ebay at least. Ol' boy at amcco said if i bring him the trans, hell open it up and check it out for free. Not to many things could be wrong with a manual trans....lol

That's cool that he will do that for free the places around here charge ya $500 just to take it off and then whatever to tell ya whats wrong then another $500 to put it back on...effing ridiculous if you ask me. There is more than you'd think could be wrong with it, lol. They are simpler than a AT but still either way if you are replacing tranny internals be prepared to spend some cash cuz it ain't cheap.

Same here and for $100 I can't b**** about that lol...just sucks that it's off a 01 MP3 lol, I was hoping for a "Post 02-14-02" lol

yea, a total rebuild kit with synchros if thats how you spell it, bearings, and a few other things is $240 on ebay. If I had a book, id do it myself....lol

Just got my 2002 MP5. 48K, CD, Sunroof, and one blown auto trans. A friend gave it to me for free. I just had to get the trans fixed. Score!

Or you could just part out the car and profit everything, which on those I'm sure you could make a decent amount.
